The Anti-Rugby Football Thread

It will only get rolling again after we get a positive result out there. We are a fickle people. Besides, Bosnia seems like a bit of a shithole.

Delighted to hear it mate. Bad luck on your loss today.

Hard luck pal. You’d have had a field day here rubbing it in if they hadn’t embarrassed themselves again. You’ll have to stick to the petty revisionist jibes for another 4 years.

On the contrary, I think Bosnia sounds like a fascinating place to go, rich in history, diversity and culture.

I’d imagine any Eire supporters who go there will spurn exploring that in favour of finding an Irish bar in order to pretend they’re at home and get paralytic.

You won’t get on joe or balls by exploring culture mate.

Rubbing what exactly in mate? You’re on the other thread enjoying this rugby football game as well as all the other boys. It’s just a bit of craic. If lads get upset that the Italia 90 bandwagon with a UK accented team they grew up with was out bandwagoned by a 32 county inclusive Ireland team for the last few weeks it’s not my problem.

Enjoy the rest of the rugby. I’m sure rugby will be liked on here now again that the bandwagon has slowed down, it just became a bit too mainstream for a while.

Cheers pal. I’ll do that.

Dumb rating with frills and maple syrup.

Italia 90 was hardly a bandwagon for fucks sake. Ireland has always supported it’s national soccer team. It was the first time we qualified for the WC, so it was kind of a big fucking deal. Most people in the country have played a bit of soccer at some point in their lives. Most people follow club soccer to some degree, be it English or Champions league stuff. Irish people have always been interested in English and European soccer.

The Rugby thing on the other is a bit of a bandwagon in that most people in Ireland have never played rugby, not really cared about it beyond the occasional home nations match. And it was for decades the domain of horrible rich boarding school cunts and protestants. It was the sport,of upper-middle and landed gentry cunts, with the “Limerick docker” exception.
Now half the cunts in the country are Rugby fans, and many of them don’t even understand the rules of the fucking game. I don’t understand most of the rules.
It is a bandwagon by every possible definition.
The fact that the team is mediocre and completely underachieves, but gets hyped beyond belief makes the whole thing all the more laughable.

Commiserations today, pal.

It’s ok to support the Irish football team but not the Irish rugby team for no apparent reason. What a stupid post.

(I realise this post runs slightly counter to the currently prevailing mood on the board but that is too dumb to let go)

The reasons why are manifest and are repeated comprehensively on here.

Just to make myself clear here sport. I’m a hurling man that’s my game but revelling in the loss of our rugby team today would really make you wonder.

The 26 County Irish football team played out of Dallymount Park for much of their existence, ultimately ending up as tenants of the Irish Rugby Football Union, who you deride as “rich boarding school cunts and protestants”. The 26 County Irish football team used a majority of players from the United Kingdom who never set foot in Ireland.

It goes to show the mindset of the Armchair Republican. Protestants bad. Wealth bad. “I demand a 32 county Republic but you I cannot abide by Protestants”. They love watching teams from shithole post Industrial Revolution cities in the North of England but will never go to their Local league games, they hate “the English” in competitions though.

Not being able to see that Italia 90 was a complete and utter bandwagon goes to show the lack of self awareness of you boys.

No no mate, it’s not okay to support the “West Brit” team because they are a 32 County team with Protestants on the team.

The reality is that the Irish rugby team represents all on this island with pride and passion. A team without borders, a positive, inclusive force, a team of the people.

That cannot be said of the Eire association football team which is a mono-ethnic*, mono-cultural, partitionist entity.

*While accepting the fact the most of its players are English.

Lovely stuff there Riggo. The levels of bitterness are unreal there.

Yes, pal. You’ve made it perfectly clear that you’re a rugby football loving orange bastard. Get it right fucking up you.

What would it make you wonder mate?

As I already said mate, I’m not bitter. I’ve watched rugby all my life, I knew Ireland would lose at some point and the boys who were seething at the Italia 90 bandwagon they grew up with was being outraged and outsupported to get their pound of flesh.

Facts are facts mate. I love watching the Irish football team.
