Sousa played in the same midfield as Paul Lambert in the great Dortmund side. He has a similarly shit managerial record but no one is clamouring for Lambert to be manager anywhere. Maybe if he was Paulo Lamberto things would be different

That’s the way it’s gone now. Hipster continental with no managerial experience and seemingly very poor English. Chris Wilder, Sean Dyche or Eddie Howe would have been a sensible choice there.
