Anyway, I was at the Grand Social in Dublin tonight to see Canadian combo Fucked Up* play.

I went out after the support fact to the smoking area with a mate who’s terrified of catching Covid (I was more worried about the effects of standing in a smoking area truth be told). I looked over to a table of 6 and spotted a lad I recognised. He was a tall, grey -haired lad, so I presumed it was some lad I knew from punk gigs back in the day who just got old. My friend confirmed that it was the actor Ned Dennehy, perhaps best known as Uncle Charlie from Peaky Blinders. He was there later after the gig, ‘shifting’ by the looks of things, which seemed unusual in a public setting for a man his age

*Damian ‘Pink Eyes’ Abraham said from the stage he was not a sports fan, bar wrestling, but said he visited Bohs today and was all on board with their anti racist etc etc attitude. He also gave a shout out for Rovers (@The_Selfish_Giant ) and I’d a good giggle when he mentioned some team called Shelby as well

He was on the footpath, on the phone, waiting for a lift it seemed.
A scruffy looking beggar, he wasn’t as fat as I thought he’d be.

Could you add a little more colour on his attendance at this event? What capacity did he attend in? A parent or relation of a graduand, did he just happen to wander in or was he a guest of honour?
