I presume we still have that tax break for super earners that Noonan brought in also.

Because not all thr revenue is coming from his pocket. There are more people paying tax because there are more people involved.

I didnt say he was paying more tax i said he was generating more revenue. There is a difference

Not only that but they are on the verge of being taken to court by many of their employees who were forced to work freelance even though they were fulltime. Years worth of holiday pay, prsi, maternity leave etc unpaid. I believe they’ve offered a settlement and the meeting is next week…

They are taxed at marginal rate - the company also pays tax on its profit.

They use the company to offset all sorts of expenses, and other tricks to reduce their tax bill etc. come on now don’t be playing the fool. If it didn’t make sense for them to do it they wouldn’t do it

Embrace your inner socialist. Eat the rich

You’re backtracking now.

The Joan Burton school of tax people higher as they are all engaging in tax fraud.

Edit - the main advantage of a company (apart from the limited liability and separate legal entity/easier to sell) is pensions. They give owners a real advantage. Sort of like public servants where the pot is effectively uncapped.

I’m not, rich people use companies and other tax avoidance tricks to pay less tax as a % of their income than the normal PAYE worker. That is so wrong it isn’t even funny.

Don’t be letting the cat out of the bag @TheUlteriorMotive thinks these lads hiring themselves into companies as contractors are patriots

Hit them with fines if their dealings or sales are predominantly to 1 entity. So if joe duffy ltd only sells joe duffy to rte then he should be an employee. Same with contractors who work exclusively for 1 tech company etc…

I’ll make this a socialist board yet.

you’re basically talking about IR35 @Julio_Geordio

The brits implemented this in Q1 2021. It is designed to get sole traders and contractors with LTD companies to pay more PAYE in the short term. The net result… All the contractors fucked off to the BENELUX, now they’ve got less revenue and nobody to do the work. Brill

@estebandaface 29/08/22 we need to do more to look after our homeless
@estebandaface 31/08/22 pay tax? Fuck that

If it was that easy everybody would do it.

As a self employed person you pay preliminary tax each year on money you’ve earned but likely not yet received

But only the rich do it…because it is worthwhile for them… because they pay less tax…

Are we getting somewhere here?

@Julio_Geordio wants everybody to be an employee

But unless lads form businesses and companies who’d be there to employ them :face_with_monocle::face_with_monocle:

it’s not only the rich do it. Almost all one van man builders do it, some of them are keeping 3 or 4 lads employed.

The State

And coffee shop owners with 9k electricity bills.

@Julio_Geordio doesn’t think that should be tax deductible.
