The Dodger is in The Joy

Crossmaglen would have a fair accumulated rap sheet across a variety of crimes built up over the years

Id probably have counted the robbing of the credit union but the associated murder probably trumps it alright

This could be an idea for DJ.

Any word filtering through about Carey from former teammates? Was he respected and popular or always an oddball and not to be trusted? Was he always on the way to this or was actually sound and things took an awful turn? It’s a remarkable story and all the more so that his sister’s story is the exact same.

Kildimo too

Would DJ and the sister have talked tactics before all this happened or is it just a coincident that these 2 are bad apples

A nice bit of human kindness here nonetheless

While no family members came to support DJ Carey in court, farmer John Crowley (63) from Mooncoin, Co Kilkenny, offered to drive him up. Carey has pleaded guilty to dishonestly inducing 13 people into paying him money for medical treatment in the US.

‘You can’t condone what he done. Nobody can condone that,’ Mr Crowley told the Irish Independent. Describing Carey’s demeanour during the car journey up, Mr Crowley said he was ‘broken-hearted, but sure he broke his own heart’.

He admitted that things ‘aren’t looking good for him at half-time’, as Carey’s sentencing was adjourned until Monday, with Judge Martin Nolan saying a custodial sentence is ‘inevitable’.

‘I know what he did was wrong, but I’m a Christian and believe in helping others.’

Meanwhile another lifelong Kilkenny fan, Thomas Butler, described in a victim impact statement how he gave Carey €16,360 for the cancer treatment he claimed to desperately need. The fact that his own parents died from cancer made his ex-friend’s lies all the more ‘gut-wrenching’.

‘I never imagined when I gave him financial assistance that it would lead to six years of embarrassment in the public eye’

That’s very nice of that man to give him a lift, but rather telling that DJ didn’t have anyone supporting him. He must have burnt a lot of bridges.

He’ll be a pariah, but he’ll always have a few people he can call into for a cup of tea. Powerful photo of him there in the paper this week, really affecting. He looks like the walking dead.

I’d love to hear in his own words what happened but I’d say he doesn’t know why, he was just compelled to do these things.

I’d say that might have been the case before all of this. It was a very decent thing to do nonetheless, regardless of everything. A touch of humanity makes the world a much better place.

I genuinely wouldn’t as you couldn’t believe the sky is blue from him

A side point but it’s almost impossible that Brian Cody wasn’t well aware of what Dj had been up to.

He made a complete cunt of himself with all that grand standing over shefflin but he’s no issues with what Carey had done.

If he did a tell all in his own words the funds generated might go some way to repaying those he defrauded

Bizarre
Why in Gods name do you spend a good part of your life acting the cunt online to people that you don’t know or have never had any beef with you other than you consistently being a cunt? And then you come out with this? Humanity

I still find it very odd. He took money off Denis o Brien to fund the high life but Denis o Brien is tied in with all the other billionaires in Ireland so it seemed Carey sort of had to hide he was living the high life knowing he could be outed. It’s very odd.

The bullies are out again - sad to see.

I’d say most of the prison going population will have no idea who he is. They’d mostly be soccer types to begin with and a good bit younger. DJ is 20 years retired from hurling now.

What really sinks him is the golf trips and so on. If the theft had been to cover his shit financial situation he probably could make a sort of comeback from this.

I know quite a bit about bullying, enough to know that you tick just about every box, you don’t even know you’re doing it probably but you are a master, I can generally predict your strategy
