Celebrating Troy Parrott’s goal in Argentina

“Yes, Manchester! I’m going to start by saying I’ve got to thank my brother, Bonehead and Guigsy, Tony McCarroll, Alan White, Gem and Andy. They brought those songs to life. Without them, I’d just be a singer-songwriter.

And no one gives a sh*t about singer-songwriters.

"But more importantly, I’d like to thank YOU, the people who’ve kept those songs alive for the last 35 years. You’ve given us the most extraordinary life and thank you very much for that.

"Have a great night. Up the fucking blues!”

Seems about right

Attended that yesterday
One hill sheep farmer attended- spoke well,
Not a whole lot of locals turned out unfortunately,
Felt for the one guy he should have been better supported,
Not one local politician turned up ,
But republicans from S Tipp and Cork city and Waterford did,
Irrespective of what ones loyalty is or where they lie ,
When an absentee landlord like Devonshire and his agents can raise rents over 700 percent it’s surely time for ppl to make a stand?

Guess they’ll just have to roll with it

What are the figures in this case (notwithstanding the thread choice :grinning:)

Is it a case that he had previously been charging absolutely fuck all?

Pretty much from what I’ve read. They’ve gone from charging fuck all to a good whack, but in the meantime they’ve withheld clearance certs that prevent farmers from drawing down grants in the middle of any “negotiation”

Is it a fair rent on market prices?

Well you have to bear in mind that the owl :owl: cunt (Peregrine Cavendish) robbed the land from the locals in the first instance.

Well his ancestors did. And that he’s as rich as Croesus

I’m just interested in the 700% rent raise really,
Wondering how that could be and the only thing I came up with was that it was being rented for fuck all on an ancient deal that hadn’t been revised🤷‍♂️

Cork fella trying to make excuses for the aristocracy.
Quelle surprise

All equally as bad,
DeValera was weak as when the free state was founded there wasn’t anything in the coffers ,
So like Devonshire and that bollox at Blarney castle and others all over Ireland :ireland:
He let them say and continue in exchange for money,
Some may say teas Hobsons choice at the time ,
But lots if tenant farmers still being burned by absent landlords and their Irish gombeen agents.

Could they just not pay and say that the land was taken illegaly from day 1.

Some might say that.

Just for clarity - I wasn’t waiting for an Oasis reunion.

Think the locals support the landowner
