The Fight To End Period Poverty

There are free condom initiatives and pill is free on medical card I assume.

Those people are regular poor so and not period poorā€¦ Are those products really that expensive in Ireland?

Yes, but itā€™s a fcuking outrage that sanitary products are taxed as luxury goods. Itā€™s absolutely wrong.

Fair play to those young ladies

Yeah I agree with those asks, should be 0% VAT on contraception and sanitary items. Both disproportionately effect women especially around the poverty line

Have you never bought them for Princess. They are outrageously expensive.

And confusing im more embarrassed about those pictures in my camera roll than most of the shite I get on whatā€™s app. No shame in buying them tho

Iā€™d like a similar initiative for poorer people and nappies. Whatever about tampons nappies are shocking money.

I probably have but paid no attentionā€¦ Fair play if itā€™s a good cause. Youā€™d surely get a pack for 2 quid tho would you?

36 tampons are about a tenner. No idea how long one lasts now.

Itā€™s when your Childrens allowance is cut off for a few months whilst you go through the red tape of confirming your address

You have it cut off permanently on the mainland if either of you are a top rate tax payer.

Iā€™m uncomfortable with this conversation.

Itā€™s a fact of life mate. Just go through it.

Surely cheap brands out there ? I still donā€™t think thereā€™s a huge section of Irish society that canā€™t afford them but still, women shouldnā€™t have to pay a whole pile for them regardless. Iā€™d be happy to pay an extra 1euro tax per month so women can avail of cheaper or free sanitary products.

Yeah, itā€™s a grown up conversation.

I think itā€™s primarily aimed at teenagers and students who donā€™t have any income or may be embarrassed at running short.
