I see the sneaky fucks trying to pull a fast in relation to their pie in the sky capital development plan.
They have listed the Adare By-Pass and the N69 upgrade as two separate schemes, when in reality they are going to be the one scheme and the bulk of it will be paid for by the EU.
Which road?
They are due to annouce a preferred route for the N69 upgrade in the coming weeks but 3 of the 4 proposed routes take in a by pass of Adare, if they pick one of those routes then very little of the N69 will actually be upgraded, but it should extend the dual carriage from the limerick side of the Adare up to where the “rathkeale” road improves on the N21.
Yip, he says now that he didn’t receive any “direct briefing” despite saying the following:
The governor told me, it looks like this weekend, a few years ago, you’ll have to put the army around the banks and around the ATM machines, and introduce capital controls like they had in Cyprus. So we’ve pulled back from that brink.
and his other version of the story, complete with a supposed quote from Honahan:
It was more interesting when the head of the Central Bank came in on a Wednesday and said: ‘I have to tell you Taoiseach that it’s probably likely that you will have to put the army around the ATM machines on Friday.’
True enough balbec.
I do remember one E Kenny back in 2006 lambasting ff in the Dail for not spending enough money all the same.
Ireland is fortunate to have a govt with the wit (or lack of) to dance to the tune of the multinationals.
I’m amazed at the lack of reaction to the healthcare rowback, mainly as it was so obviously snakeoil at the time.
