I’m going to violate the rules of the INTERNET, break my hardline IRA supporter character, and throw John Hume into the mix here.

A man of courage, vision and persistence of immense proportions and the debt that Ireland owes him can never be repaid.

That’s an incredibly disingenuous poster.

Hume was a truly great man and ran the gauntlet of Unionism and the Sunday Independent and everybody else who vilified him constantly while he looked to engage the Republican movement (successfully) for peace.

If Adams is Ireland’s Mandela, Hume is Ireland’s Gandhi.
