Destro unlucky to see his header come off the bar.
2-1 at HT.
The game started around the 10th minute mark as that’s how much was played before it was called off a few weeks ago. It has been a very open game and Parma have been the dominant side for the last 15 minutes though Destro did hit the bar in this period. He also put a gilted edged chance wide at the back post earlier on in the game but was incorrectly called offside, he’s not having much luck in front of goal today as Gervinho’s goal came from tapping in a Destro shot that came off the post. We’re not looking too comfortable defensively though, Torosidis in particular.
Pjanic makes it 3-1.
Happy birthday Miralem.
De Sanctis; Maicon, Benatia, Castan, Romagnoli; Nainggolan, De Rossi, Pjanic; Florenzi, Destro, Gervinho
Struggling to create anything here as Cagliari are very well organised at the back. They held us 0-0 in the reverse fixture earlier this season.
Maicon with a number of sub-standard crosses. We’ve been very flat.
Pjanic has picked up a booking which will rule him out of next week’s game at home to in-form Atalanta.
Destro opens the scoring after a quick breakaway involving him and Gervinho.
In this form Prandelli has to bring him to Brazil.
Astori and Destro swap elbows and slaps simultaneously as they tussle for the ball.
Destro has picked up a yellow card which will also rule him out of next week’s home game against Atalanta.
Hat-trick for Destro.
The guy is a goal machine.
13 goals in 12 starts and averaging a goal every 84 minutes.
The other thread seems to be falling apart
It never had any credibility or legitimacy to begin with but when its thread starter came out with stupid statements like Destro not being Roma class…
Destro handed a three match ban on top of already missing the next game through suspension for his punch on Astori.
We’re appealing Destro’s ban but it already seems to have done his some harm as he has been omitted from Prandelli’s selection of players to be called up for physical tests and will leave him with only two further games left this season to state his case. There are reports however that he will be included in the later list that includes foreign based players such as the PSG contingent.
Florenzi, Pjanic and Destro are all suspended tonight so the team will pretty much pick itself with Bastos/Ljajic the only real decision to be made. Swedish wonderkid Valmir Berisha is expected to be on the bench for us tonight so it would be nice to be in a comfortable winning position tonight and give him some minutes, he has been given the number 99 shirt.
Pjanic came out last week and said he is very close to signing a new contract but very worryingly during the week stated that he is unsure whether he will be at Roma next season. We need to tie him down as soon as possible or else risk losing him for a modest fee of around €20m in the summer. We’re also been heavily linked with a big move for Porto’s Jackson Martinez for about €28m. I would be very disappointed if we made this move as the money could be spent better, Martinez is a great player but we already had a top class striker in Destro and I would much rather we used that money to add more quality depth around the pitch. Bertolacci has also been linked with a return to Roma.
De Sanctis
Maicon
Toloi
Castan
Dodo
Nainggolan
De Rossi
Taddei
Ljajic
Totti
Gervinho
All Brazilian back four tonight.
Taddei smashes one home.
He has been playing like Hercules reborn of late.
Ljajic makes it two after some nice interplay between Gervinho, Totti and De Rossi.
Smashing block from De Rossi to deny Denis.
3-0.
Another lovely move, Totti instrumental in it and Gervinho smacks it home emphatically.
Daje Roma!!
