The Franco Sensi AS Roma 2013/14 Season Thread

Weā€™ve played ok, dominating the midfield sector and looking secure in defence. Up front we have lack a little composure with Totti on the bench. Marquinho has really struggled. Gervinho has mixed some good moments with some very frustrating ones - he has to have the worst balance Iā€™ve ever seen from a football, constantly falling over when trying to change direction.

I canā€™t emphasis on how big a blow losing Maicon is to us. Looks like a muscle tear/pull so heā€™ll probably be out for the next month or so.

Rudi Garcia has been sent off.

For what?

I donā€™t know but Richard Whittle reckons he will find out.

Totti on for Marquinho who was very poor tonight.

Benatia!!!

What a goal!

Strootman was running to the ref looking for a penalty oblivious to the fact Benatia had scored.

We are now outright leaders in Serie A.

That was a very accomplished performance, we were very solid in defence, we won the midfield battle and Gervinho had a good game in attack. I am not going to get too carried away yet, itā€™s a start that I donā€™t think any of us expected and now that we are in this position we should take it one game at a time. With the exception of the Verona game we will destroyed them and could have completed a route, we have got our goal when the game was very much in the melting pot, while we might have been enjoying a good spell we werenā€™t exactly laying siege to their goal. Itā€™s probably a good sign of our new found mental strength that we have been able to get these goals and important times and clinically close these games out but I feel itā€™s also worth bearing in mind that we have got a few breaks with the opening goals in these games.

Grazie Roma.

Totti now leads the assists chart with four.

Kevin Strootmanā€™s effect is clear to see, he is a leader and a winner

Benatiaā€™s goal tonight.

Great stuff. Any word on the extent of the Maicon injury

Not yet pal, hopefully something not too serious.

Maicon has probably been our best signing this summer. Itā€™s rare to see a side with so many new faces coming together with great effect so early. Maicon, Benatia, Strootman and De Sanctis have all been great so far.

The most encouraging thing is the return to form of De Rossi in a Roma shirt, he looks like a player who has been liberated of the pressure he was feeling.

Great times to be an AS Roma supporter. Imagine how foolish @Bandage must feel.

+1

Youā€™ve had a great impact, pal. Youā€™re just the type of fresh blood that TASE and I have been looking to bring into the fold.

1-0 up through Florenzi as he followed up Pjanicā€™s stinging free kick.

Whoā€™s the boring cunt on commentary? He usually does games for BBC, think he did our 2006 WC semi final against Germany.

Nearly a second through Balzaretti.

2-0 Gervinho with a well finished goal.

3-0.

Benatia with a cracker, Totti now has 6 assists and one goal in the first six games this season.
