The GAA Infrastructure Thread

Saw this posted elsewhere about the cost overruns:

“one of the most expensive cost overruns of the whole build was the planning decision that required them to keep a certain amount of the existing terrace area. This was then given a ‘facelift’ so to speak with new terracing units placed on the existing concrete beams which were in very poor condition and needed a lot of work, cost a hell of a lot more than to knock it to the ground and rebuild.”

Its a great venue, but there’s no way the taxpayer should be covering that sum.

Didn’t Dónal Og want it on Cork GAA land out that straight road out past UCC. They’d have built some stadium for 110m plus price made if they sold PUC

But if they did build it out there, that’s as far as PuíC is the other way… you couldn’t make it up

And harder to get into & out of traffic wise.

What Donal Og wants, any county board should do the opposite of anyway.

Deviant apologist.

Not exactly. I think he wanted it built out the kerry rd where the showgrounds is now. It is very close to the UCC ‘farm’ and CIT sports grounds. Could have amalgmated all on a huge tract of land there. Cork GAA bought the showgrounds adjacent to the stadium and the show bought that land which has probably quadrupled in vakue to 100m since

And if there is no care provider?

This is what happens when you let a woman into power

Debt is €86.5m @gilgamboa

Hope they give Frank a great send off tonight. Place looks fabulous.

Joe O’Dwyer vindicated.

Then that would reflect very very poorly on the disabled persons family.
