The GAA Infrastructure Thread

Is there an indoor in Mallow?

Yeah.

Banteer is a tiny village with a junior hurling team and a junior b football team and they have a massive indoor astro and a floodlit full size outside astro facility with a stand and a coffe shop.

They have the place on the go non stop with soccer and gaa clubs from all over using it

Yeah big hall and centre of excellence. Load of pitches too. A bit outside the town. It was used as a vaccine centre

Jaysus, that’s some setup

Yeah very impressive. They have a fella on the club is an expert at obtaining sports and lotto grants. They have a brilliant childcare facility next to the national school as well a village punching 100 miles above its weight

Yeah v good there as well. Growing population there right next to city. Cloughduv on the other side of the city have a massive complex too. Its like an arms race. If you get there first the other clubs locally won’t get funded

Worth their weight in gold. We have a lad on board the past few years who is excellent at them too.

We had 2 bad guys one year. Fucked us for years

Was up there during the lockdowns, a colleague suggested a social distance run during the long evenings. A fine set up altogether. A walking track about 1km under lights git the 5km time down nicely.

Yeah that was there long before the astro. They have tarred the place in the last few months from front gate into astro with huge car park and one way system out. Serious operation. More or less fully paid for now I think

In the gaa we can’t even list who’s on the inter county Squads.

Nearly every sport is trying to get
More information out there while in the gaa it’s the opposite.

Are they any good at playing ball?

Good few examples of clubs with no players and good infrastructure because getting good infrastructure is easy compared to coaching and creating good teams.

Any prick can fill out a grant form

Not particularly. Junior in both codes

It’s a tiny village with a relatively large catchment but small pop in catchment area. I’d say they are playing a draw vs how they should be doing. No more

Croke Park has not made the list of venues to be used in the Ireland and UK bid for Euro 2028. Casement Park was used.

Casement wont ever be built.
