The great PJ McManus

The expected completion date is September 2027…

Could be a few Breeders Cup prep runs taking place around that time.

“Even my own hotel in Cork is working with the Ryder Cup to provide accommodation, and we are not the only ones. And Cork is almost an hour and a half away.”

The hotelier said that while the distance seems quite far in the minds of Irish people, those travelling from abroad for the tournament do not see it the same way.

“We need to be mindful that folk are travelling from all over the world who are living in countries where they have no difficulty commuting an hour or two, maybe more, in some cases, to get to an event.

“We get hung up on that all the time, but it’s been one of those areas that I have had to defend robustly, particularly around the challenges of pricing.

“We want to stay as close to our given location as possible, but when you look around large urban areas, there is no difficulty staying 20 minutes or more outside London or New York. But that will come down to the synergies between the government, transport providers and infrastructure.”

The way people are talking you’d swear there was 200k Americans coming over.

If 10k came over it would be a lot surely and would easily be absorbed in September in Ireland?

The dollar going to shit won’t help them travel either. There was 25k in for the college American football game and there was hardly a dickie bird about it.

The lads over the Ryder cup will spend three times as much as those students

The numbers were tiny that travelled to Rome anyway.

Students don’t really travel - it is mainly alums and their families

Tipp town will be hopping with yanks

Don’t they put on a ball of extra flights for it?

But it brings a serious crowd to Dublin each year

I know someone with a couple of grand sheds out in Monard. They could do untold with a rustic glamping boutique experience

Helicopters will be the key here. Chopper from anywhere within 40km airlifting them in like the fall of Saigon. Surely there’ll be choppers to spare when this turbulence ends in the ME. Pilots are all you need.

Your mother could ramp up the catering and create stews in 10 gallon drums and we’d all jump in with assistance in distribution.

Or the 7th circle of hell in January, with the wind whipping down off the Galtees with the rain and hail trying to flay you alive while waiting to get on the train which will inevitably be late and a Petri dish of viruses(granted that has nothing to do with the Junction…) Anyway back to PJ…

That’s a major cop out in general for anybody hoping to commute by train in future along that line.

They have been doing repair work on the line from Limerick to Adare so I’m a bit puzzled by that article.

More questions than answers.

It looks like a capacity management thing. Pretty sure it’s a single track link and they feel they make best use of the capacity by giving people travelling from Dublin & Cork a direct rail link, while shuttle buses can handle the shorter Limerick city trip.

But what does the future hold?

Originally it was only going to be a goods only line to Foynes. I think that will be tje long term plan

I think they had To clean it up for a grand off the e.u ?

They had the ability to move goods on it but it wouldn’t be used.

That rail line will be an absolute white elephant and the volume isn’t there to support commuter traffic
