tax?

i hope you arent too distressed about the 0.15c charge

My container didn’t have a logo, but I was charged a deposit

There is a transition period for retailers from 1 February 2024 to 1 June 2024. During this transition period, shops can sell new containers with the Re-turn logo and older containers which don’t have the logo.

During this time, you will be charged a deposit if the container has:

  • A Re-turn logo and a barcode that is registered as part of the scheme
  • No logo but has a barcode that is registered as part of the scheme

This means that if you are charged a deposit for a container, you will be able to claim it back even if the container does not have a Re-turn logo.

During the transition period, older containers which don’t have a Re-turn logo or a registered barcode will also be available. You will not be charged a deposit for these containers and can recycle them at home in your green bin.

From 1 June 2024, all drinks containers included in the scheme will have a Re-turn logo and registered barcode.

So we need to carry around a barcode reader?

And what about the bigger bottles @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy?
Did you get an answer on that one yet?

And the tax paid on bottles and cans that are not returned. Where does that go?

Bring Back Barcode Battlers.

There’s a guy running for the Greens in the locals here in South Central Cork… Of Africa heritage. The racist comments under his tweets are just horrific. I’ve decided I’m giving him my no.1 vote.

In Germany you can hand them in over the counter.
Ye have simply introduced another handy tax.
This isn’t about recycling, it’s about more tax.
