Let's All Laugh At McIIroy

Iā€™m not part of any set. Just throwing it into the mix.

He needs Jim Gavin in his corner. Too much talk of completing the Grand Slam, the final piece of the jigsaw etc etc instead of focusing on the process hole by hole.

Itā€™s a shame that your only ball is made of crystal

Youā€™d feel that his best chance at a masters is to be 5 or 6 off the lead and come on a charge Speith style to nick it. Iā€™m not sure heā€™ll win one from the final pairing.

Maybe itā€™s a man with a proven track record in delivering a Grand Slam that he needs in his corner - Joe Schmidt.

Final day wobblers with the Driver & Putter fucked him as per usual. He is mentally weak.

After all his comments on Saturday night he was firmly sent home with tae in his mug. The Masters is the pinnacle of golf. You cannot be considered a true great without a green jacket.

The last time he won a major was the night of Lk v Kk in the 2014 semi . That seems an age ago .

Itā€™s nearly 4 years ago.

Yes . McIlroy wouldnā€™t have thought it would be this long to win a major .

How has Caroline Wozniacki been doing since then?

I heard some UK golf journalist on the radio today making the point that for an average enough putter, he could do with a caddie to read the putts for him rather than just carry the bag and not provide much input. Jack Nicklaus used to have his mates and towards the end of his career his sons carrying the bag but the Bear didnā€™t need any input from anyone how to play.

Was Harry one of the five a side crew when he missed the 2015 Open with a broken ankle?

Harry is a very accomplished amateur golfer himself and a former West of ireland champ.

It had to be a huge disadvantage not having an experienced caddy on the bag though. Was a masters special on Off the Ball last week and one of guests (damien mcgrane maybe) called out this exact point, that if it was in the mix this was going to be an issue

Think it was Ben Crenshaw back in the day that used the same Augusta club caddie every year. He maintained that there was no match for the insight and know how of the club caddies.

McIlroy doesnā€™t have the mental strength to win at Augusta. The missed eagle putt at the second did his head in yesterday, he missed five putts from less than 8 feet on the front nine alone. To win at Augusta you have to put a bad shot or hole behind you immediately as every hole is a different challenge. Reed won because he got over his poor nervy start and didnā€™t panic down the closing stretch when Spieth and Fowler were charging with the crowd behind them.

Rory may need a new caddie but a new psychologist is probably more of a priority.

The wife is probably wrecking his head.

If you just turned on the tv and saw no score you would know how he was going just by the head on him. He cant hold it together at all.

Even for club golfers thats what separates single figure handicappers from pluggers, ability to keep the score going after a bad hole.

It was strange watching him last night. The difference between himself and Spieth for example was huge. It almost looks like Spieth went out with the notion that he wasnā€™t in contention and didnā€™t give a fuck . Therefore looked on it as a round in his local golf club. Maybe thatā€™s the way Rory needs to Go
