The Iron Mike Houlihan Appeciation Thread

I really want Limerick to win the All Ireland despite everything Watchyourtoes has said on this thread.

We no longer require out of county support now,we want to win everything and become even more hated.

You’ll never become as despised as Clare were under that big chinned cunt Loughnane. Your players and manager are too sound.

A Mike Houlihan appreciation thread with a photo of Brian Geary? o_O
A Mike Houlihan appreciation thread with a photo of Brian Geary? o_O

But i typed Mike Houlihan Limerick into google and that came up on the images!

Did he hurl center forward for Limerick though? Looks like Geary wearing timber off someone to me, could be wrong & if so my bad. What year did Houlihan finally hang up the boots?

I think that cnut Eamonn Cregan dropped him after the 1999 championship.

A session with Maggie Curley would sort him out

It’s Houlihan in that photo alright. Was taken in his last championship game (to answer your other question) in 1999 v Waterford. Same game also marked Kirby’s exit from inter-county.

Waterford won 1-16 to 1-15 and Iron Mike scored Limerick’s goal. His only championship goal for Limerick if I recall correctly.

He was dropped far too soon.

A cursory knowledge of GGA would mean you know that is Mike Houlihan. And most like Sean Cullinane.

The picture gives a false impression of the ferocity of the pull I’d say. An over ‘ratted’ hurler I thought. A good one but not the legend he’s made out to be.

We’d actually have put 15 or 20 points on those clowns in '96 if Pat Horan hadn’t been in the throes of a hate campaign against Wexford.

An utter tramp and a good riddance

From the county that produced Jim McInerney, Mike O’Halloran, Ollie Baker, Gerry Quinn, Tommy Keane, and Davy Fitzgerald…

Was it Mike Houlihan that got attacked by a bull and togged out for Limerick a few days later with his jaw wired up?

So legend has it. The reality was a little different in that his assailant was of the homo sapien (well, homo erectus at least) variety.

All relative really…

Colin Lynch was an angel I suppose!

That pr!ck Cregan dropped all of the team that Tom built too soon.

Fuck off you bodhran thumping Clare culchie. That prick that used to play for ye in the 90’s PJ O’Connel now there was a tramp not to mention that other tramp Colin Lynch.Ye won yere two fucking all irelands and ye deserved no more than that.

I’d rather be a tramp with a couple of All Ireland medals in me arse pocket all the same Beautiful City!
