The granddaddy of Free Jazz, Ornette Coleman and the seminal Shape of Jazz to Come album…
Vintage footage of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grapelli…
Stan Getz went to Rio in 1962, and changed the course of both Jazz and Brasilian music.
Poor old Jazz has had a tough time of it on the east coast since Robbie Fox went belly-up. Bless the cunts.
[quote=“The Wild Colonial Bhoy, post: 823789, member: 80”]whats the difference between a rock guitarist and a jazz guitarist?
The rock guitarist plays 4 chords for 10,000 people
and a jazz guitarist plays 10,000 chords for 4 people.

Brilliant.
What do you call a jazz guitarist on a fixie?

Superb.
I am not hugely familiar with the jazz genre but Take Five by the Dave Brubeck Quartet is the coolest tune I have ever heard.

I bought the Take Five album for a quid in a 25 Jazz CD boxset.

It’s a perfect piece of music. I love Charlie Parkers version, could listen to it on repeat for ages.
@caulifloweredneanderthal informs me that some jazz mag are selling classic vinyl albums with their bi-weekly issue. First up is Miles Davis, Kinda Blue- priced at €6.99.
Here ya go: https://www.deagostini.com/uk/collections/jazz-vinyl/?gclid=CMnm-5zsx8oCFYh92wodupsH0g
Picked up issue one in Easons. 180grm vinyl too, and it’s the Columbia pressing (not some kind of lo-fi K Tel rip off). Every second week and somebody told me there’s 80 in the collection. Issues 2&3 will be 12.99 and then it goes up again I understand. Some nice stuff in the line up - Mingus, Ornette, Herbie, Coltrane, etc.
Louis Prima and that big band stuff was brilliant. New Orleans jazz is like nothing else.

A treat I generally only allow myself on public holidays. Listening to the complete Koln concert by Keith Jarrett.
Have picked all 21 so far.
Fair play to ya. I picked up the first two. I think there was a price hike after that and I let it go.
