The League of Ireland thread
From the top of the premier division to the bottom of the first the league corruption runs rife.

From the indo:
have a look at theleague table & you might be able to guess who wanted to win more between pats & galway - the fai havent issued a statement about these so called fix games

well done to the punters

Runts hatred of all things foreign has him defending bookies against punters now
im not sure if any games are under investigation by the FAI

Longford played a reserve team vs monaghan - the fools in paddy powers wernt aware of that & were caught out- LOI fans knew more about the game - it was a rick
Especially if the Patā€™s players have a few bob on Galway to win

Iā€™m only thinking of my fellow board members. Iā€™d hate to see Flano out of a job

There might not even be a LOI next year Iā€™d say. Half the players are out of contract and the other half the clubs canā€™t afford. Good riddence to it anyway.

bohs could be going to the wall alright:D:D:D:D:D
Any chance of paying us out on Bohs winning the league Flano ffs?

It should have been paid out weeks ago, have ye a cash flow problem in there or what?
did they pay out on this?

Im sure Bohs was paid out weeks ago.

Crazy shit if the Patā€™s story turns out be true. Them lads are meant to professionals, betting against to be your own team has to be an automatic dismal never mind the the criminal charges. If i was a St. Pats fan iā€™d be fuming at that carry on. Wonder what their sugar daddy thinks of it all?

Patā€™s put out a dud team against Galway cos they were playing Bohs in the cup a few days later and the league was over. Itā€™s hardly a huge shock they were beaten. The league was all but over for the Cobh game. All Bohs had to do was match their performance. McDonnell had said in an interview not long before that theyā€™d ahve to keep working away until it was mathematically impossible. He didnā€™t come across as a lad who thought they had a chance (reasonable in the circumstances). Basically, they had nothing to play for against two teams fighting for survival. Itā€™s hardly a huge shock they were beaten (especially in the Galway game) and itā€™s hardly a huge shock that it occurred to some people in advance that they mightnā€™t be at their best.

Tell that to the cops and the Fai. Players gambling on their own team losing is wrong, plain and simple. The LOI is in a perilous enough situation as it is without bent players. Hope to fuck these allegations aint true.

NCC thinks itā€™s ok to do it cause apparently it happens the whole time in Europe.

I know itā€™s wrong.

I had merged the two stories into one and was treating the Patā€™s issue as having arisen from unusual betting patterns (which would have been quite understandable in the circumstances).

Is there any solid evidence in the allegations against the Patā€™s players? Any players or sources named or is this another story like the one about the ā€œtroubleā€ Patā€™s fans were involved in when they played Linfield?

Its just speculation so far, here is what Pats have to say about it

STATEMENT FROM CHIEF EXECUTIVE
"Yesterday afternoon I learned that a national newspaper was running a story today linking St Patā€™s players with allegations of betting on two of our fixtures this season.

I informed Fran Gavin, Director of the eircom league of Ireland that I would be looking into the matter, and sought advice from the local Gardai.

While I would expect and hope there would be no truth behind such unsubstantiated rumours, I felt it would be irresponsible not to investigate the matter further.

I informed the playing squad of these allegations yesterday evening and we will be seeking the full co-operation of the FAI in our effort to discover if any of our players were involved" - Richard Sadlier.

Bohemians face stadium crisis
Friday, 7 November 2008 16:48

Bohemian Football Club has lost a High Court case relating to the sale and redevelopment of part of it lands at Dalymount Stadium in Phibsboro in Dublin.

Mr Justice John Edwards ruled that Bohemians hold a section of the stadium in trust for the owners of the adjoining Phibsboro Shopping Centre with whom the football club had been in negotiations for redevelopment works over a number of years.

The decision will have implications for an agreement which Bohemians has with another developer, Danninger Ltd, about the proposed sell-off of the stadium and its re-location to a site in Castleknock.

The judge said he will hear submissions on a later date from counsel for both sides on how the land in question is to be transferred and any other matters arising from his decision.

The case centred on whether there was ever an agreement between Bohemianā€™s and developer Paschal Conroyā€™s companies, Albion Properties Ltd and Albion Enterpries Ltd, over the potential sale of a section of Dalymount which adjoins the Phibsboro Shopping Centre and which Albion wanted to redevelop at a cost of 200m.

Bohemians claimed, in their proceedings, that any agreement to sell off part of their lands never moved beyond pre-contractual negotiations and there was no concluded agreement. In its counter-claim, Albion said the agreement was concluded in February 2003 and a number of variations of that agreement were also concluded.

During the course of these negotiations, the court heard, Albion made payments totalling 1.05m to Bohemians at times when the club was in financial difficulties.

The judge said he had come to the view that Albion are entitled to an interest in the land involved because there was ā€˜clear evidence of repeated promises, representations and inducementsā€™ held out that if Bohs were paid money on account by Albion, it (Albion) would get the land.

Were the lyrics of that song similar to this

No Surrender

Give me St George in my heart, keep me English
Give me St George in my heart, I say
Give me St George in my heart, keep me English Keep me English to my dying day
No surrender No surrender No surrender to the IRA (scum)

The sentiments seem pretty similar anyway

Tipptops it looks like you were right, this guy really is Peter Robinsonā€¦:frowning:
