The Let Kev at your Back thread

Thereā€™s a good article on AFR on a study into GAA injuries. The gist of it was that the majority of injuries in GAA were non-contact and as such were at least partly the result of players not receiving the correct conditioning training. Two of the major problems identified were Quad dominance and Gluteal weakness which cause a lot of hamstring injuries. I know lower back pain can be related to those complaints as well. Worth a read anyway - http://www.anfearrua.com/story.asp?id=3249

Have you tried a physical therapist rather than a physio Runt?

How about a psychologist? This could all be in your head.

a proctologist will sort you out runt

:stuck_out_tongue: So youā€™re saying heā€™s full of shit then?

Itā€™s only at night, after 5 hours sleep. I could be fine for 3 or 4 nights then in bad pain for the next 3.

I thought the blood test thing was a odd, the regular doctor was on holidays so was being covered by an Indian gentleman. Even the nurse was surprised by me bring sent for tests. Itā€™s odd that the pain is gradually moving down my back.

Not totally odd that the pain is mobile, muscles will spasm and trigger adjoining muscles. It is odd that its only occuring at night. New matress perhaps?

No, Iā€™ve slept on various matresses and the pain has still occurred. I had to sleep sitting up in recliner the other night. Slept fine in it. Once there is no pressure on the back then it seems to be fine. The pain went all the way across my ribs at one stage on itā€™s travels down my back.

Did you get the results of the blood test, Runt?

I need to put my mind at ease after a worrying few days.

No they werenā€™t back. The pain has subsided with the difene, but as the problem was intermittent in the first place I canā€™t be sure if they are actually doing anything, plus if I stop taking them will the pain come back.

He told me Thursday the blood tests were for Artrithis!

I had awful trouble with my back before as well. Got a shoulder from a lad during a match and twisted awkwardly. I had some trouble before from it but nothing like the pain I got then. The psysio told me Iā€™d a curve in my spine from one leg being a mm longer then the other, thatā€™s why I asked in an earlier post.
Have you had any x-rays done or anything? It could be the way you lie at night or twist in your sleep.

I was told before about having ā€œbiomechanical mal-alignmentā€ a fancy word for what you describe!

Thatā€™s what I was afraid off. Results of blood tests will highlight many abnormalities but they wouldnā€™t normally do them for sports injuries.

Iā€™ll say a prayer for you, runt.

I have an awful dose of the trots this evening

blueberries are suppose to be good for tackling this.

Still have them this morning, flowing out of my like brown mortar

Donā€™t fart or youā€™ll destroy the good pants.

Try a good laxative, that should relieve the symptoms.

ah FFS.
can you not get your hands on some Imodium?

tear into a box of bran flakes, cardboard and all.
thatā€™ll regulate your digestive system.

It is starting to solidify, had 4 weetabix for breakfast and a wholewheat roll with some chicken at lunch. stomach isnā€™t feeling the bets still. donā€™t know what caused it, possibly the tap water in my gaff which tastes very metalicy (sp) these days
