+1 not funny at all, I wouldnât mind but I was so wound after watching it that I couldnât sleep for an hourâŚ
Thanks very much Fran. That was the right result last night much as Williamsâ two mistakes proved crucial in the end. I thought we were in big trouble at 14-10 down before he muffed the punt. They were getting on top in the second half by winning the field position battle and strangling the Giantsâ offense deep inside their own half and we needed that piece of good fortune to change the game momentum. I thought Eli was wonderful yet again. Whatâs that now? 7-3 in play-off games and 5 road victories. An elite quarterback, if ever there was one.

Some serious shit on Twiiter last night. If he ever logs on to read it again heâll go into hiding.
Itâs slightly harsh as it wasnât a game winning kick. It was bread and butter for any kicker but Pats would probably have beaten them in OT.
not so sure really. to be honest, I felt the Ravens were starting to move the ball better in the fourth, and we were struggling bit more. Gronkowski not being right too didnt help. I was glad it didnt go to overtime. some despair at the end, had thought they won it when Evans made that catch, but then didnt hold on. that was the winning of the game right there, but Cundiffs kick was the last play so will get more publicity.
Well done Briantinnion.
Roll on Feb5 .

I was sure that was a TD. Wouldnât be that up to speed with the finer details of the rules but I thought he had caught it in the zone. Why exactly was it disallowed?
Both feet have to hit the ground after the catch. He caught it with his right foot on the ground but by the time his left foot hit the ground the ball was knocked out. (Am open to correction if thatâs not right)

Right I get ya. Does touching the ball down have the same effect. For Bradys TD for example.
no thats pretty much it. he didnt have full control of the ball. you need to get it and take a step with it in simple terms.
Bradys was different, he had posession of the ball before he crossed the goal line. once you have posession, and the ball crosses the line in any form, then that is the play over. so Brady and Smiths TDs, despite them not ending up int he end zone, both crossed the goal line with the ball while in posession
Good question, havenât a notion to be honest.
How do they define full control of the ball? It being tucked under your arm?
its all about possession.
Possession: When a player controls the ball throughout the act of clearly touching both feet, or any other part of his body other than his hand(s), to the ground inbounds.
he didnt have control when touching down both feet.
as count says, having the ball and then touching the ground. need to have the ball in control though, it cant be bobbling in your hands.
Farce of a sport.
Poor Billy Cundiff will be remembered the same way as Don Fox is in rugby league
It was the right result. Even though the two mistakes by Williams will be remembered as the game changers, the Giants were the only ones who looked like they might do something with the ball on offense in the fourth quarter and OT.
Iâll be cheering on the Giants in 2 weeks time and I think theyâll win it with a bit to spare
Who?
Don Fox missed a simple conversion or penalty in a Rugby Football League Challenge Cup final many, many years ago.
Is there a good comparison to Cundiff in American Football? At least Scott Norwood was further out in Super Bowl XXV.
Ray Finkle.
there have been a few regular season ones, Kaeding and Suisham ones that spring to mind. and a good few college ones, even this year in Stanfords game, kicker missed 2, one to win at end of game, and then one to go ahead in OT.
but cant think of an easier miss in a big game.
