As I’m trolling through TFK and drinking beer here (I really should stop and go to bed, I’m starting as centre forward tomorrow, all 5’6" of me), there’s a Japanese film on the box called Norwegian Wood here, which is rather high brow and I haven’t a clue whats going on in it.
But the soundtrack is quite brilliant.

There are a couple of beauties out at the moment.

The Mogwai soundtrack to the movie Kin is outstanding as is Johann Johannson’s last work, the soundtrack to the horror film Mandy.

Separately I picked up a couple of great reissues, Full Metal Jacket and John Carpenter!s Big Trouble in Little China.

That was a great night. The RTÉ concert orchestra playing music from Pirates of the Caribbean, Ben Hur, Lord of the Rings, ET, Skyfall, Out of Africa, Casablanca, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Star Wars, Thw Thomas Crown Affair, Calamity Jane. And more. Savage.
