The Official Irish and british Lions Tour 2013

Faleaus try

Rebels + 21 is the bet today, I cant see The Lions with Farrell at 10 and Barritt 12 creating much in attack. Lions by 11 to 20 pts 13/5 with PP isn’t a bad bet either.

I see Austin Healy has come out and labeled the whole lions concept a farce and that it has had it’s day! He is obviously a lurker around these parts, but the only bone i’d pick with his comments is that it never had its day, ever. Other than that I agree 100% with the great man.

That’s the bet is it? Well thanks be to fuck I missed it.

Fair play to Australia, they deserved that. All to play for now.

Easy to forget what a weapon George North was around then. Haven’t seen these games in a long time. Murray was sensational.

Living with the lions from 1997 on sky 408

A real common decency about the English lads back then. Jason Leonard and Dalliago were thoroughly alright sorts.

Sir Ian and Jim Telfer what a management pair.
Lads would run through a brick wall for them.

Paul Wallace the unsung hero of the tour.

Jim Telfer convinced the front row that they would smash the giant Boks and away they went and did just that. What a coach.

Telfer felt they needed smaller more mobile props to counteract the size of the South African front row, Os du Randt in particular. Went for the smaller and more mobile pairing of Tom Smith and Paul Wallace with only a handful of caps between them overJason Leonard and Graham Rowntree. How right he was.

Don’t forget the rugby league input to that series win .

A lions tour is special

I remember os du randt in 07. He’s one of a few players to win world cups 12 years apart.

Scott Gibbs was my player of that series. He was an absolute beast. That 1997 tour was a very special one. Probably the last tour as well where there was a big input into the test team from all four unions.

Did I see Keith Wood doing body shots or was I imagining it

The lad Bentley on the wing barely played for England and was brilliant for the Lions. Scored a wonder try in one of the midweek games which were taken far more seriously back then

He was a leaguey from a northern town . The blazers at HQ probably felt he didn’t fit …
