Tough times for Buryites, with the club still to play a game in this season (should have 3 league games played) as the EFL doesnāt believe they have the money in the bank to finish the year out. They are not yet in administration at the moment but it all seems a right mess. Theyāve a deadline of the 23rd of August to prove they can take part or be fucked out of the whole EFL pyramid. So presumably straight to the conference or out of existence altogether.
The club was bought last Christmas by a local businessman who agreed to pay creditors a % of their debt to avoid administration, but hasnāt even managed that. In the meantime players are owed their salaries etc. and the club have no income coming in. The new owner says heād no idea the amount of debt the club had when he agreed the takeover which seems bizarre (and surely false) and the EFL supposedly lapsed on their due diligence in a effort to get the deal over the line because this chap hasnāt the funds at all.
The really really strange thing is they somehow managed to get promoted last year.
I canāt remember any other club going bankrupt in the summer after being promoted?
Meanwhile literally down the road, their nearest neighbors the once mighty Bolton started the league one season -12 as they went into administration, and two buyers are locked in a legal battle as one tries to stop the other from taking over. Best case scenario thereāll be two clubs with -12 in league one this year. Possibly thereāll be only 23 clubs in it at all.
There had been no EFL club go into administration since the 2013 season, and it was thought the stricter financial rules introduced then had had the desired effect. But itāll likely be two this summer and with something like 18/24 championship clubs making a loss every year then the number will surely climb again.
Perhaps Bolton Bury Wanderers might be the solution.

English football is falling apart. Spuds will go bust when the arse falls out of the TV deal.
Bury need a saviour today or will be kicked out of the football league. The chairman is playing hard ball saying he wants half a million (down from closer to Ā£2 million apparently). He paid a Ā£1 when he bought the club first day last December. He says he has paid off some debts but itās not really clear if he did or didnāt. The whole thing is a bit mad and your man seems shady as fuck.
EFL have admitted they didnāt do due diligence on him as the club was fucked last December before he came in and they just wanted it sorted. 43 of the 51 companies he has started have been liquidated 
Bolton and Bury have until 5pm today to sort a deal out. Bolton talks collapsed last night and it seemed they were on the way out of existence but they are hopeful again this morning a deal can be reached. Bury have a preferred buyer in place but they want more time to do due diligence and the EFL have said they canāt drag it out any longer

By the sounds of it they couldnāt even ascertain what was owed and the stadium is mortgaged so there isnāt even any underlying assets, canāt see anyone wanting to step in at this stage.
Doubt theyāll be missed in reality. A nothing club for more or less the last 50+ years of their existence
