Alaska is fairly cool.
All the offies are outside the town limits.
So youâd have to drive or have a long walk.
We spoke on here about this before. Itâs strange that the colder northern countries have weird licencing laws.
Must be something to do with a long winter boredomâŚ
And alcoholism.
I was in a brewpub in Alaska. A proper one where they brewed on site. They could only serve you two drinks. The bars in the same town which were full of bar flies had no such restrictions.
Well, I only know of the situation regarding Sweden. The country had a terrible problem with alcoholism from the 1700s and onwards, and out of it arose a temperance movement which became strong, as well as politically powerful, and still exists today but with a more limited but still real lobbying power.
Alcohol has been under state control since the very early 1900âs and rations were in operation until the mid-50âs and was unrelated to WW2.
I believe that Swedish culture restrains the personality so much due to their long-held adherence and worshipping of Jantelagen
that they need alcohol to snap out of that from time to time to attempt to be normal, authentic human beings. The difference between an average Irishman drunk compared to sober, in comparison to an average Swedish counterpart, is scary. A total personality change guaranteed.
A scandinavian abroad is very different to a scandinavian at home. They are released from the bondage of their restrictive culture.
Think of the way if one walks with the pace you would living in Dublin, and the two days it often takes to adjust to the local pace on a spanish holidayâŚbut the Scandos have to adjust how they interact with other humans.
