The main expense is in the size of the battery storage you want, if any. Panels cost around ā¬250 apiece now whereas you could spend the price of 20 panels on decent battery storage; all depends on your needs, usage and whether you are on a night tariff or not.

Make sure your inverter isnāt locked to a particular brand of battery, i think Huawei inverters cab only use Huawei batteries
On a related topic; it is a fairly Irish situation when the energy suppliers are allowed to add VAT to Standing charges, PSO Levies and the Carbon Tax amounts on your bill. Surely the VAT should only be applied to the energy consumed, which is the service provided?

Iāve mine mounted outside which would reduce the fire risk; I wouldnāt put one near an attic or insulation anyway

What size panels is he quoting you for, in Watts?
That will be in the official quote i assume,im using 900kwh a month
It seems ok; most panels nowadays have an output of 440 or 450w apiece.
Is the price you quoted after the grant has been factored in?
For context, I got 21 panels with 8kwh of battery for ā¬10,500 after grant. 5kw inverter and I didnāt bother with a changeover switch so I think you are doing well.
Mine was just under 20k. Included heat pump which after grant was around 6.5k. plus 4 rad changes, thermostats and a tricky wiring job to hook it all up. And BER before and after. With two batteryās
