This is the most bizarre statement ever. How was he lucky to go to Chelsea who had loads of money? You make it seem like he turned up and someone said suprise your our 50th Manager heres a load of money. He knew the cash was there going in, he got the job and took it. Top managers get top jobs shocker. Chelsea had cash before that without too much success. There are as many instances of managers failing with loads of cash as there are fellas succeeding. United were hardly skint either. He used the core of the team that was there previously and not good enough and made them good enough.

Grant and Hiddink didn’t have the same problem against more formidable Liverpool teams in '08 and '09.

The Mourinhoesque tactic the Italians employed against the Brazilians was going down the other end of the field and scoring. They killed that game by winning 3-2. The killed the final by winning it 3-1. Oh and they killed the semi 2-0. 8 goals in the last three games of a World Cup.

Too young to remember it but not too young to have watched the match in its entirety on more than one occasion. Italy weren’t as negative as Mourinho’s teams against Brazil, but then again they weren’t a million miles off it when in front. which was most of the match. The difference was that they had to win and they could attack with the best when they needed to and were masters of the counter attack. It should probably have ended up 4-2 as they got a disallowed goal late on which to the best of my memory should have been allowed. That said they got two very soft goals resulting from Brazil’s shambolic defence.

The semi-final and final were a different kettle of fish to the Brazil game because they were playing against teams with a different style. They were deserving winners once they got past Brazil.

This is somehow touted as one of the 10 best goals in English football over the past 20 years. Despite being no more than a decent move with an above average finish against a shit team team who went on to be relegated, it has somehow attained mythical status, mainly I’d guess because of Cantona throwing shapes afterwards and the laziness and lack of imagination of football “best of” list compilers.

Le Tissier alone has scored at least 30 goals which are comfortably better.
