We have scored 4 goals in 12 first halves this season. We’re starting with so little effort and energy.
And we cannot respond to any adversity. Our heads dropped completely after their goal as you said. And again after we didn’t score during second half pressure.
We have players who don’t seem capable of concentrating or executing the pure basics in Schmeichel and CCV. We have triers like Scales, Ralston, Donovan who would be squad players in better teams.
And we have no tactical nous whatsoever.
McGregor was hiding as a makeshift fourth centre back at the end of that game. And not defending while back there.
There is absolutely nothing creative in the team apart from Tounekti and maybe Hatate and the latter has been as bad as anyone.
The saving grace this season might be blowing it all up like after Lennon but including the Board this time.
Young Jocko right back, just turned 19, Scotland U21. Got into side lately due to injuries to the two first team squad right backs. Acquitted himself well, especially in Belgrade last week, but was poor tonight & taken off at half time when they moved to 3 at the back.
There’s enough quality in the Celtic team and squad to win tonight. The rat is the issue. A horrible cunt sowing division in the club. The sooner he’s gone the better.
Well dodgy. The 2nd one wasn’t even a playable rebound. Goalkeeper deflected it wide. Not even sure there was encroachment. Award of penalty in the first place was dubious too before the farce begun in earnest. I’d say an awful lot of money was lost on Roma not equalising.
Taking the Irish hat off that would actually be great for the League of Scotland. It would still be very unlikely. There was similar talk 20 years ago to this day in 2005 when Hearts made a blistering start before finishing a distant 2nd and winning the cup. But they never built on that after.
I remember that well. Think George Burley was in charge but left abruptly before Christmas (fell out with their mad Lithuanian owner but Burley was meant to be a raging alco). Celtic beat them around New Year’s 3-2 at Tynecastle after being 2-0 down early, with Stephen McManus scoring twice at the death. And that was that.
Goalkeeper was out around where Dudek used to be for the 2nd penalty. For the first one the lad who just got ahead of the striker to clear the rebound was a yard inside the box before the penalty was taken - they were 2 fairly straightforward calls.
A welcome return after injury for Johnston & Engels in from the start with Nygren moving wide presumably. Ralston & Yang drop out. At least it changes up the underperforming midfield but McGregor & Hatate have been poor too & it’s not like Engels has been good off the bench. There are others there who can count themselves fortunate to be retained - Schmeichel, CCV, Tierney - & I wouldn’t have been irked had he fired in Murray, Saracchi, Bernardo & Balikwisha. They’ll surely show some reaction to Sunday but hard to have any faith in this version of Celtic. More likely Sturm Graz will weather early pressure, settle & end up winning like Braga than Celtic creating lots of chances & converting a couple of them. But I live in hope.
