I know they probably needed to for financial reasons but it’s an awful pity they put in any teams from the top leagues

I’m confused here is this a third level of uefa competition? Is this separate to the EL?

Rovers go into Rd 3

some massive ties tonight
Dundalk ( with covid) v Newtown (WAL)
Stjaran ( ISL) vs BSC - BSC have sold 6k tickets for the return in the Aviva- Rovers beat Stjarnan over x2 legs in the 2018/19 UEFA cup before loosing to Mlada Boleslav- , The BSC were knocked out of last season’s UEFA cup on spotters by Fehravar formerly FC Videoton in Hungary
HF Hafnofjordur (ISL)) v Sligo - i think Dundalk beat HF in 2016 and Shelbourne beat them as well in 2004 before beating Hadjuk Split

FH Hafnarfjördur (ISL) / Sligo Rovers (IRL) vs Rosenborg (NOR)
Dundalk (IRL) / Newtown (WAL) vs Levadia Tallinn (EST) / St Joseph’s (GIB)
Dudelange (LUX) vs Stjarnan (ISL) / Bohemians (IRL)

2nd round draws above
Dundalk were second highest seeds in the first round draw- if they got their act together they’d get thru these no problem

Dundalk won 4-0 so that’s sorted one would imagine
Sligo are 0-0 at 70 mins in Iceland, BSC on at 8-45

that 4-0 win for Dundalk must be up there with one of the biggest win in Europe for an Irish club? - I think Shelbourne put a heap past Glentoran in 2005 maybe as well

How many rounds is there pre group stage? And Rovers drop in to qualifiers if they lose in the CL qualifying too?

Rovers will drop into the 3rd qualifying stage which is one before the playoff round pre groups
Rovers will be unseeded tho which will make things very tricky
UEFA cup is a lot smaller this season- there is only 2 qualifying rounds pre groups
The competition is closed to league placings and cup winners from the top 6 european leagues (portugal is at 6) and cup winners only from leagues in position 7 (Russia) to 16
https://kassiesa.net/uefa/AccessList2021.html
Cyprus has a coefficient of 16, LOI is down in 42 out of the 55 leagues
Dundalk’s results last season will sustain that for a bit

bohs are one down at HT.
sligo lost 1 0 to a very late goal after Greg bolger was sent off

Derry beat Gretna 5-1 away from home as well around that time

yes they did in 2006. correct
2004 to 2008 gave some great results , cork beat malmo and nimejen, shels were on a crusade in 2004 and from 2006 to 2008 where they were a goalpost of beating dynamo Kiev drogheda were getting great results also… rovers then again in 2011 at partizan Belgrade must be the greatest of them all id say

like you think about it. in 2006 cork beat ael limassol in the champions league…thats a league now almost 30 places above us…

1 1 Bohs - Tyreke Wilson - 70 mins

You’d hope Bohs and Sligo can do enough in second leg to get through

Wtf

ok
BSC beat Stjarnan 3-0 at the Aviva tonight in front of 6k to win 4-1 on aggregate, Sligo lost 2-1 at home to HF Hafnorfjodur to go down 3-1 overall
On Tuesday , Dundalk won 1-0 in Wales to complete a 5-1 win over Newtown
next up

Dundalk (IRL) vs Levadia Tallinn (EST)
Dudelange (LUX) vs Bohemians (IRL)
Shamorock Rovers have a bye to the next round post loosing to Slovan last Tuesday

Dundalk beat Levadia in the 2018 UEFA cup qualifying over 2 legs before being hammered by AEK Larnaca but its anyone’s guess as to what Dundalk show up here
levadia drew 1-1 in Gibraltar tonight against St. Josephs but won 4-2 overall
Dudelange will be a challenge for Bohs- they reached the UEFA cup groups two seasons ago and have a couple of internationals on board there
