The prestigous Europa League thread 2012/ 2013

Well done Basel.:clap:They’re a very decent side in fairness.

Good display of colour from the Basel supporters, reminiscent of Shamrock Rovers at Sligo last October.

Black night for the all whites

Some of you might remember that Yann Sommer is a former graduate of Il Bomber Destro’s European U-21 Championship team of the tournament.

Basle, Benfica, Fenerbache and Chelsea make up the semi final line up.

I believe this is the 3rd year in a row that no Italian side has reached a European Club competition semi final. Couldn’t be true could it?

Or none of us.
Probably none of us.

yes I recall that alright

Back after 2 weeks and scoring against the champions. Chalk that down as me being right yet again. I’m always right.

David Luiz’s free kick gives Chelsea a last-gasp 2-1 win in Basel. Sommer should have kept it out.

I know he saw it late but that was poor from Sommer for the Luis goal. Expected better from him

Saw a snippet of the second half of this on 3e. At one stage Moses was clearly offside but Trev Welsh didn’t spot the flag going up. Anyway, Moses went on and squared it to Torres who struck it against the keeper from close range and it rebounded to a Basel player in the box who picked the ball up, put it back down quickly and took the freekick. Trev was raving for a good thirty seconds afterwards about what a sitter Torres had missed - never mind not copping the offside flag, it didn’t twig with him that the player picking the ball up meant something was awry.

Those horrible west London cunts are going to win this fucking thing out now.:frowning:

Rafa is very much an alright sort, this would be a great coup for the little man.

If Chelsea go on to win this, that will mean that they are the only english club to have won all four European trophies and the only english club that ever will.

Rafa is a bit of a cunt managing a shower of uber cunts who are supported by some of the worst people in the world.

A curr like you wouldnt be fit to lick a gentleman like Rafas boots.

I have no interest in licking Rafa’s boots but I appreciate that natives of the Queen’s County have a more subservient nature so please feel free to lick away to your heart’s content.

Fenerbahce won the other semi-final first leg 1-0 at home to Benfica. It sets up the second leg nicely where an away goal would put a lot of pressure on Benfica, who were fancied to go through beforehand. I rate Benfica highly - it took a very good side to pip them for second place in their original Champions League group back in December.

Unbelievable goal by David Luiz there. Sensational. They were 1-0 down at half time on the night but 3-1 up now after goals by Torres, Moses and David Luiz.

“That was bee-eee-ay-yoooooootttttttiiiiiiffffffuuuullllll”, exclaimed Trevor Welch.
