I live near it. There’s a privacy zone set up on the strava that leaves out my actual address. I stopped in Allandale at the end for a 500m cool down walk. A few weeks back, I did a 12-13k jaunt around Cratloe Woods, hopped straight in the car and then went home and worked on the dinner for an hour. My body/arse didn’t thank me for not cooling down, stretching or refuelling
You’re putting in the miles, are you training for a specific event?
My two main events this year are the Dingle Adventure Race (June) and Killarney Adventure Race (October). I’m gonna run the Limerick half marathon in May as prep for Dingle. I’m not going out for any major time, just to get the miles in.
By the way, up to late May last year, I hadn’t ran more than 2-3km continuously since I was about 16 (I’m nearly 34 now).
How did you do it pal, get back into it i mean.
He hates woman and kids with a passion. It’s his mojo.
Got up one Sunday morning. Was towards the end of thesis hell. Had a decent level of fitness (gym and extensive cycling for a year or two). Had 25-30 minutes to spare. Went out and ran 5km in about 23 mins (mainly laps of a track with a bit of road). Came up home, sweating buckets and sat on the couch and felt it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Body was sore a day or two after but was fine after that. Never had pace when I was younger so not overly worried about that.
Fair fucks. I have a zero level of fitness right now so will have to look elsewhere for inspiration.
It can be done, pal. Best of luck. There’s plenty of support on this forum for new fitness ventures it seems…
This thread is the new ravenous thread in terms of competition. It used to be gym routines and various lifting programs, now it’s all about 5k times. I suppose that’s healthy in a way.
Here’s my advice @maroonandwhite. If you’ve genuinely done no fitness work for ages and are worried about your heart’s ability to deal with activity, then go for a swim or two. Push yourself. It’ll clear your lungs and prepare your heart for the oncoming terror. Then put down the phone fucker and go for a jog.
If you really have sand in your vagina then get a couch to 5k style app.
Nice one, that’s the best strategy alright. Just completing these races should be your goals for this year.
If you’ve still got the running bug next year, you can add some speed work into your training and aim to beat those times.
You’re
Your. You’re is wrong in that context. If you want to cut it on tfk you’ll have to up your game on the grammar front.
Savage session using the ladder today. Legs are feeling it now.
I’ve just entered the galway bay swim again.
It’s easy to be the big man when you’re sitting in a cafe with the phone.
Imfcuking dreading it now, the hours of tedium training more than anything.
Any sponsorship would be gratefully received.
Irish community care again, Manchester.
I’ll match anything I’m sponsored from tfk.
@balbec and @Big_Dan_Campbell were extremely generous last year (and that is not a tout, just an acknowledgment of their extreme generosity).
Will you promise not to carry your sponsorship in a wad of cash with an elastic band around it in your arse pocket for you to lose it again?
Jaysus. Fair play.
Yes I promise.
I wasn’t right after it last year. Got cold and mouth raw with salt. You swallow a hape of salt I reckon during it.
I had a drink of water half way across and threw it straight back up last year. I think it’s the salt.

Fair play to you. Plenty easier things you could do to raise money. Let us know the easiest way to get sponsorship to you
