You’d be fairly lost going from Heuston to Stephens green to druncondra

The line goes under the Phoenix Park to get from Heuston to Connolly

That was the one I’m thinking off. It was discussed on here during Covid I think

Yeah it’s operational last few years

They’ll miss the fry in Heuston Station.

Not many options up around Drumcondra I’d have thought.

A few on a non all Ireland final day in fairness. Lovely little cafe next to the Centra alongside the train station called Nellies…fine brekkie and lunch there

Cuala did something similar with chartering a Dart for one of their games in Parnell Park. The Dalkey crew wouldn’t venture Northside on their own

No capacity in Connolly so they can only use it on a Sunday seemingly

I travelled through it on occasion in the past on a special match train. When I went to university I remember mentioning the tunnel under the Phoenix Park in passing to a Dublin friend and he would not believe me, he’d never heard of it.

The newbridge to grand canal dock train uses it the whole time

Interesting exchange on the ‘quiet’ carriage on the Dublin-Cork train yesterday. Phone rings and the owner answers it and starts talking. Immediately another lad leans across the aisle, says this is a quiet carriage and is greeted with murmurs of approval. The guy on the phone looks bemused, mumbles something but puts it away. For the first time ever in my experience there was total silence to the Junction…only broken by my snores having partaken in a heavy lunch a few hours earlier.

It goes during the week. They’ve actually had operational constraints at weekends that stopped it’s use (cc @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy).

It is going to form the backbone of the new DART line to Heuston. Brand new underground station at Spencer Dock will alleviate capacity issues at Connolly and the new Cross Gunns station will link with DART West and Metrolink. There is also a new station in the hopper for Cabra, although this does not form part of the DSW project.

Irish Rail did not want to open properly it as they wanted DART Underground built. So they used to almost pretend it didn’t exist.

@Little_Lord_Fauntleroy whem are we going to get dates for the openings of new train stations in cork? Im sick of being traffic and the purposal will suit me very well. The Cork Urban Network Transport will be a godsend

Id imagine it’ll be full to the brim from day one

urgency has all gone

expect Darragh to focus on Dublin mate

It’s worse the rail service is getting, not better…

Bus Eireann to Clonmel Barracks and then JJ Kavanagh to Kilkenny is about 2 and a half hours. It’s a bit roundabout going by train.

Could you ever go from Limerick to Kilkenny by train?

You’d have to go to Waterford or Dublin or something first

Change somewhere in Kildare I think
