By the time she pays Lawro’s legal fees she’ll barely have enough for a loyalty ticket to All Together Now… what exactly was he found guilty of? You’re hardly only awarding that sum for rape… that’s the kind of award you’d get after a few slaps outside a niteclub.

Was it just assault he was found guilty of, or sexual assault or Rape? Not clear from any of the reporting.
he wasnt found guilty of anything. the jusry found him liable for personal injury. im supposing here but the size of the award kind of points to contributory negligence e.g claiming for mental health problems but taking anti depressants with coke, booze etc

I doubt it. But DPPs have gotten things wrong before and they will again. She got this one wrong.

Are damages not based on the claimants amount rather then the defendants worth? Like if that was some scumbag who had fuck all money, it would be the same as it is compensation on her for loss of earnings etc. rather than the ability of how much the person can afford to hand over?
The amount also wouldnt necessarily mean a volume of guilt or damages, once it is awarded against him, that is the case “won” from her perspective. You dont kinda rape someone.
And in fairness to her, I’d imagine she was offered far more of a payout to shut up. So fair fucks to her for all the abuse she has been taken recently to stand up for herself.

Looks like they had only one verdict to consider for McGregor and they found against him. I guess that means the jury believed her.
According to the jury he’s a rapist.

They were basically instructed to go under 300k by the judge in his directions.
He said there were no guidelines in cases such as this but he told them that in personal injury cases where someone had suffered quadriplegia, the maximum award for general damages would be €550,000.
In the most serious libel actions, he said the Supreme Court had ruled that general damages should not exceed €300,000.
He urged them not to go overboard if they came to the point of awarding punitive damages. They should not get carried away and they should forget about what courts in the USA might do.
