The Reggae and Dub Thread

Went to King Shiloh sound system in Amsterdam last weekend. 2 nights of unreal tunes. One of the best gigs I was ever at. Up there with black Uhuru in Dublin

Listening to Uprising by Bob Marley here. Definitely my favourite reggae album and a contender for my favourite album of all.

His earlier stuff was better.

I don’t agree but that’s just my opinion and your opinion is equally valid.

It’s not really my opinion, I’d rank all his albums from Catch a Fire onwards about the same level of greatness. If I had to pick one I’d go with Exodus but that’s influenced by being his first album I bought.

Exodus is a very good record in fairness.

Ridiculous album. Man was tuned in. That said, my favorite tune of their was when they were way more ska before they played Reggae. There was tensions between the gangs in Kingston, and they rolled this beaut out.

Followed in second place by Burnin’ and Lootin’. I remember hearing it for the first time in the movie La Haine. It blew me asunder.
