Clermont were 23-5 up at HT vs Toulouse who had a man sent off. Toulouse then had another man sent off 15 mins into 2nd half but clawed there way back to lead 30-26 scoring a try of the season contender to go ahead… They proceeded to concede straight from restart and lost 33- 30… One of best games Iv seen an age

Cracking game. Different sport they’re playing. Comparing that as a selection trial for national team and the Leinster Munster match for the same, they’d absolutely spank our national team presently.

All of them lads want the ball all the time. Different mindset. You could drop in most of the players from the Munster Leinster match into super rugby and they would thrive on an individual basis. Generally v conservative approach in coaching in the NH then. Lam is an exception but he is willing to fail and learn
I know one lad who the further up they progressed, they were told at intl not to go seeking the ball. Not that they hadn’t the ability or it was a weakness in their game but that it was beyond their remit as a 6. Tackle, clear breakdown, make nuisance. End of. Took a lot of.joy out of the game for him.
You’ve the likes of a pudgy hooker in Dane Coles then skinning wingers and throwing skip passes down below.
