Aye he looks like one anyway. You can always tell from the eyes. He reffed that game as if he was hurting for an OBE. Most bizarrely biased performance I have seen. His heart visibly sunk when Farrell hit the post but he didnt have to wait long for another chance from the ever obliging Brace.
V poor alright. He’s only a rookie at that level. IRFU have a referee policy… If you are a scrum half or out half who has played rugby at senior club level and show any interest in refereeing they will push you through… He is generally OK first time Iv seen him having a howler like that

I’m fairness he isn’t the worst. He clearly had a terrible game but didn’t deserve the abuse online. Its easy to forget they are human too but when a ref has a bad day everyone knows it. I don’t envy them
I’d guess without any hard detail that he has reffed probably less than 200 games in his life. Vs the players who probably have a thousand under their belt from youths to now… He is learning on the job. They give fellas a chance v quick and if they show promise throw them in deep end… A senior enough ref told me he would know within 5 games if a fella was worth persisting with
There are some atrocious refs in the Pro 14. Usually Scots. The Changlengs were particularly bad
There is a lack of refs out there and you would know fairly quickly if a fella is up to the level. There are some refs that are around years and only cover junior and underage. You hate to see the sight of them because you know they are useless. Most refs would have played a bit too which helps. Saying that I have come across more useless refs than good ones and have let them know
