There was 26000 there only because cark city were in it. A normal fai Final draws 10/12000. Cark draws big numbers because in fairness to them they are real soccer people not like the scum in Dublin that think they are soccer men but simply aren’t unless it’s on the TV.
The only other way you get 15,000+ at the fai final is when some one off provincial town get to it like leitrim rovers and there is a bit of a local frenzy and novelty factor involved with a day out in a bus to the big smoke.
The biggest attendance at a final in over 50 years was the first year it was held in the rebuilt rubby hq, again the novelty factor.
You’d have to go back 30 years to find an fai final that didn’t contain Cark or leitrim that had 15000 at it.
The 2007,08,09 finals drew 10,000. 10,200 and 8,100. A total of 29,100 over 3 years.

Yes.when SRFC play in the aviva the crowd is huge. Think we got 36k first time then sold out the 2nd time.

The last final with less than 15000 at it was the 2009 final between Sporting Fingal and Sligo which was played in Tallaght.
Since then Mr Delaney has really promoted the final and it’s been held in Lansdowne Road ever since.

‘Rovers’ drew the crowd to landowne road the first day the rubby hq was open. Leitrim rover brought most of the crowd up tho as described previously. And a lot of sports fans wanted to see the new rubby hq.
Previously ‘Rover’s’ in fai finals drew crowds of 8000, 7000, 8500. That’s when they were in their peak.
