Attended my first college game of the season last night. Total attendance c. 30 excluding subs & mentors. Good open match between UCC & DIT.
Laoisâ Cha Dwyer captains IT Carlow to 3 in a row Division 1 Hurling League titles after their win over LIT tonight.
What are UCC like now CCHA?
They made the senior semi and lost to dcu by a point last week. I have not seen them play. They will be competitive but hard to know they are strong enough to win out.
They tend to peak well for Sigerson and start training later than most colleges.
I meet the coach regularly but for whatever reason we have not discussed this years team.
Full of young Kerry lads iâd imagine?
I believe so. Should have a clatter of kerry 21s and 3 or 4 senior squad. Think they have brian oâdriscoll, maguire and a few more cork seniors as well
Theyâll be delighted with that, a 1 point loss to one of the rivals in league semi. Perfect.
Ya Driscoll is a big part of that team. McGuire is a beast. Hopefully he maintains last years oace of development
We won the Ryan Cup, mate.
Team that started, subs and scorers.
Ulster University: R McGeary; D McKeown, M McAvoy, R Johnston; R McHugh, G McKinless, S Sheridan; E Donnelly, N McKeever; D Gallagher, E Rafferty, R McGlone; C McCann, N Madine, P McBrearty.
Subs: F Burns for McKeown, T Clarke for Gallagher (both H-T), J Kearney, L Connor for McGlone (45), D Gallagher for Kearney (78), B Grant for Madine (80).
Scorers for Ulster University: P McBrearty 0-7 (5fs), E Rafferty 1-2, N Madine 0-2 (1 â45), F Burns 0-1, N McKeever 0-1, E Donnelly 0-1, R McGlone 0-1.
The players we know of missing: Ronan McNamee, Rory Brennan, Mark Bradley, Eoin McHugh, Kieran Hughes and Ryan McAnespie. Iâm sure thereâs quite a few more as well. Eoin Donnelly is a great coup for us.
I watched (what i could) the highlights from a terribly foggy night and McBrearty kicked some fine scores alright. The 6 looked full of running and very sharp. He a derry man?
Is that F Burns Jarlathâs son? I know he was highly rated coming outta school. Hardly him playing Sigerson now?
Nativity play season guys
No thatâs Frank Burns, Tyrone senior panelist and captain of last yearâs u21 side.
If numbers are as per the lineout above then 6 would be Gareth McKinless of Derry, heâs a very good player alright, got injured in the warmup before Tipperary match last year and his absence was heavily felt.
the 2 umpires are dressed like members of the provisional IRA
More excuses. If he or Derry prepared properly he wouldnât get injured in the warm up.
One of the most embarrassing things to happen a Management team
Is this you trying to inflate the value of your cowboy profession again?
Was Ryan McHugh not in Sligo or somewhere like that?
Mark was anyway.
Not sure about Ryan, although he probably was.
McBrearty was in Maynooth as well.
