Erm, Harty Quarter finals were always played at this time of year
Thought he was best for me. Silky. Just maybe needs more size but thatāll come says you
You just cant trust thise Clare lads
Itās cat, fake hurling. Iād rather have watched a mud bath & lads going at it
Iād rather a mud bath but clubs donāt want to facilitate these. Makes sense to use astro when available as clubs wonāt give pitches.
I would have taught ULs grass pitch would have been capable.
Youād think the Clare lads would be flying considering itās winter hurling
Grand for the spectator but no player wants that
Be surprised, thereās plenty mullockers who love winter hurling. Handier play corner back in a mud bath!
And if the weather was bad, the game would be called off and refixed for a suitable venue.
The split season offers zero flexibility and we are left with this noble competition being shoehorned onto Astro Turf pitches in the back-arse of UL.
Its not right.
All those astroās and space ship domes should be knocked and ripped up.
I can regularly remember such games played in flooded pitches. Better play them on Astro if needs be.
Schools have been waiting 6 weeks for these games, mocks are coming up soon so these games need to go ahead. Always has been the same.
Itās a bit churlish to blame the split season; a bigger problem is clubs not being able to get volunteers for midweek matches or else not being bothered to host these games by closing their pitches.
Of course the split season is to blame.
The schools All Ireland now has to be wrapped up in Mid March so Inter County Minor and U20 bosses can get access to their players earlier and earlier.
I cannot believe we have apologists on TFK for Hurling on an Astro Turf. Its farcical.
I wouldnāt have an issue with these games being played at weekends either but I suppose some County Minor team might have a training session lined up that canāt be tampered with.
How did Tulla get on this year? Was last year just a Golden Generation?
The Harty Cup final has been played in February long before the split season.
Traditionalists will be traditionalists
The optimum date for a Harty Cup Final is Saturday February 25th.
The optimum date for a Harty Cup Semi Final is Saturday February 4th.
The optimum date for a Harty Cup Quarter final is Wednesday January 25th.
When you tamper with tradition you are left with farcical scenes like today of a QF on an astroā¦
If it is deemed acceptable to play a Harty Cup QF on an astro where does it end?
Will we see the hallowed turf of Semple Stadium or the TUS GG ripped up and replaced with an astroturf like that abomination of a surface Dundalk play on? Because it might be wet sometimes? I can see it happening in the next 5 years for some County Board to do this to their county ground.
With these split season zealots now running the association, nothing is off limits.
Itāll be like watching the SPL
You have idiots now openly campaigning for this. Musgrave Park is another abomination of a ground.
They are ripping up these astros in Holland now for good reason.
Thereās a strip of astro now along the sideline in Thurles and its awful looking. They had to narrow the pitch because of it.
