The School, College & University Competitions Thread (another thread gone west)
Interesting.
I think it would raise the profile of this competition if such things were in place. People would love it.
They should have decided it that way tonight i think. Doesn’t need to be dragged out beyond this weekend it becomes an inconvenience for all intercounty players and many underage club hurlers.

Tony Kelly getting MotM was a bit of a joke, fair enough he got on a lot of ball and scored a few nice scores, but with the amount of shots he takes, he’d fucking want to. So many wides… you’d think after missing a few, he’d look for a pass, but no, rained shot after shot down on goal. Very frustrating player.

Was a weird game tbh… UL seemingly had it in the bag on a few occasions but threw it away.

McInerney was pretty good.

After an emergency meeting out the back of the Mackey Stand, its been decided that they’re going to beer bong for it. Jake Dillon is going to represent for WIT and PJ Scully has been put forward by UL. Nancys in an hour.

Only one place for beer pong in Limerick, Costello’s.

WIT objected to Costello’s. Hometown advantage.

Lohan & Bonnar should have a soggy biscuit contest to decide the winners.

Only for ul .be gone

Kelly had 3 wides from play in 80 min 2 were in quick succession, he also had 2 wide from frees one witch was a point in the first half, if you were at the game you would see UL had 2 inside forwards to 4 WIT lads, to shoot was the right option, young Bennett came on and did well all so hit 3 sides, if u don’t shoot u don’t score.

Both sides had a lot of men back, that is true… but he hit one from over his shoulder from way inside in his own half without even looking, with 2 men to spare within 20 metres. If you are withdrawing a man, and the other team have also withdrawn a man, you have to play a running game, make the short pass and have men running in support. They did this at times very well, but nowhere near enough. Even with the extra man WIT had back, some of the ball the UL forwards were getting was awful, surely the diagonal ball to the corners had to be used more rather than raining high ball down on top of a sweeper.

Stephen Bennett did do pretty well, but I don’t think that excuses his wides either, at least 2 of them were ones you’d definitely expect him to get.

You’re right in saying that if you don’t shoot, you won’t score but that doesn’t mean you should shoot from every angle instead of looking for a pass, and it also doesn’t excuse poor shooting.

Kelly is a class hurler, and is capable of so much better than he played today. McInerney was much better than him.

Kelly’s work was unreal he had 9 block downs that’s just fantastic work rate and Mac was very good as well no question.

Kelly will never play for UL again after tonight. Logan must have been livid with the amount of ball he wasted.

Go to bed Tony.

Ya the free at the end gave that
impression all right…

Bonnar mugged off Austin Gleeson, mugged him off good and proper.

What a thread. What a competition.

Tom Fox:clap:

9? You were counting? How many did everyone else have?

I’m not saying Kelly isn’t a class hurler or anything, he is, he was probably the most naturally gifted hurler on the field. And he did work hard, but he made lots of mistakes too… the likes of Jason Forde, Troy, Dan Morrissey all worked very hard too. I would say that Kelly is unlikely to be totally satisfied with that performance as he can do better; I’m sure everyone has seen him play on a different level completely to that.

There were a few WIT players too who were better on the day, O’Neill was quality.

Kèlly class but man of the match??

Ah people are tired of funny man not @carryhary
