The Shame I feel about Dublin as my šŸ capital (and other random cities in videos that Muldoons think is Dublin)

Why? Good or bad why would they say anything other to placate the headbangers who are just out to stir as much shit as they possibly can?

Donā€™t disagree with the rest of you comment btw

You used the term snowflakes. Clearly trying to turn the conversation in a certain direction. Whatever but fairly pathetic truth be told

I reckon that the delay in giving any details at all regarding the assailant didnā€™t help yesterday. Not making excuses for scumbag cunts looting and commiting anarchy in Dublin but even for social cohesion in general, the media need to be more transparent. Maybe they canā€™t be, Iā€™m no expert but perhaps that would have negated some of the unrest yesterday evening.

I know there is legal issues etc to work around but saying nothing about the story at all can be worse too. Arguably it does allow more lies to be spread on social media which can or could lead to more unrest.

Try again in the morning maybe?

You entered the conversation, now running away. Standard townie behaviour.

Good or bad you said they wouldnā€™t release news. Surely if it was good theyd say so to defuse any further unrest ?

Good post. I think the point is they are very wary about releasing any info until they are confident they have a grip on law and order first and foremost. Any snippet will be hijacked by online elements they have no control over otherwise(see @Cheastyā€™s excellent breakdown on this earlier)

Clearly where theres a vacuum there are those who will sow mistrust in between and wind the headbangers up some more(see above) so its a bit of a balancing act alright.

Well i do. Seriously.

I donā€™t doubt that for a second

I guess Iā€™m a fool. The most important thing in all off this is that misfortunes welfare. Fuck everything else

Immigration is an increedibly complex subject, those on the far left and far right trying to simply it are either morons, zealots, have a vested interest, or politicians (also with a vested interest). To the far left governments should treat all those that want to enter the country the same as their native populations, the far right want no immigrants. Both positions are ludicrious and unsustainable, unless you want societal conflict and decay.

Nobody rational opposes all immigration, itā€™s vital to any developed country given the demographic challenges we face. Most countires in the west and east Asia are not producing enough children to sustain their economic models, although a valid question is whether those models are even sustainable. As opposed to large scale immigration why arenā€™t governments more focussed on economic stimulus to encourage people to have kids or more kids? If young people canā€™t afford accomodation in Ireland so are delaying committing to a stable relationship and having kids, how the fuck are immigrants supposed to overcome the same issues? How are a few hundred single men in (insert Irish town) going to solve the long term population issues?

Whatever Irelandā€™s next government is need to be focussed on families and making it easier on people with children and make the decision to have children more viable, invest in childcare, give significant tax breaks to those with children, give significant tax relief on mortgages, etc. The current government seem to only be interested in growing the population quickly through immigration with little thought to integration or the impact on the existing population.

Itā€™s a bit of a mess and there are no easy answers but the swing to the far right in more and more European countries should be a wake up call. Trying to suppress opinion which seems the current strategy is not going to work and will eventually lead to larger scale violence. Engage with the actual issues people have, although thatā€™s a hard ask of our of touch self interested politicians.

Good post.

Change scares people and thereā€™s been fairly rapid change in demographics in Ireland. Tensions further heightened by the recent Ashling Murphy trial and publicity I think.

Immigration has always been part of humanity. Yesterday was a microcosm of the benefits of it, definite more harm saved by a hard working immigrant. Thereā€™s nothing wrong with saying that immigrants are welcome if they want to do well and contribute to society, thinking otherwise is bad minded. But thereā€™s also nothing wrong in saying that everyone who enters should be properly identified and recorded, and entry should be denied if some were criminals elsewhere who might pose a danger.

People are alarmed, some are inflamed, some are bigots. But the first two groups donā€™t have an outlet to voice genuine and reasonable concerns, lest they be themselves branded as the third by, in general, useless virtue signalling blow hards, a few of whom post on here.

Its not unreasonable to suggest a thorough immigration procedure. The reality now is a joke, going by our resident expert in this area (the only poster worth listening to on it), backed with the farce of self deportation. Cant blame people for demanding better for their tax money.

As regards the assailant, he was a citizen, he had previously been vetted. Still unknown what drove it, mental illness or mental illness fuelled ideology. There might not have been much the state could have done to prevent it. Perhaps revamped mental health services. but the state can certainly make sure he never has the opportunity to do that again, a duty theyā€™ve failed on before.

Not good at all from what I was told. The teacher is barely hanging on as well.
