So it’s mot grand then?

Listen, whatever you mot thinks is fine by me.

I don’t like Dublin

I still like Dublin but it has regressed hugely since the lockdowns. Definitely dirtier in the city centre and feels more dangerous particularly in Dublin 1. Service in a lot of restaurants and pubs has gone to the dogs too. For those of us lucky enough to live in leafy Dublin 4 life remains a dream but I feel for my fellow Dublin inhabitants who aren’t so lucky.

What makes certain parts of Dublin more acceptable than others?
The geography, or the people?

I mean it’s clear why the coastline from Malahide down to Bray will be more appealing that places like Blanch, Sandyford, Tallaght etc.

DCC have got their fingers out in the last few months.

Its a feeling. A vibe.

Hopefully that starts to make a difference although they only seem to mention areas in the southside in that article. Will northsiders continue to wallow in their own shit? Seems unfair on those poor folk.

They started one initiative north of the river more focused on residential. Both will be rolled out over the next year.

parties voted against an increase in property taxes mate - ties DCCs hands a bit

I wouldn’t know much about Dublin but the walk from The Hogan Stand to Connolly Station isn’t very nice. And the walk from The Mater to O’Connell St. isn’t great either.

D1 & D2 are chalk and cheese to walk around.
You won’t get much nicer than strolling along the D2 / D4 Grand Canal area. A lovely vibe on a sunny day.

Was on the bike around South County Dublin over the weekend, Ranelagh, Sandymount, Blackrock, Dun Laoighre and Glasthule. Beautiful part of the county, wonderful old period properties, good train service, beach and swimming facilities, nice coffee shops/bars etc

Did a bit of window shopping in an estate agent, mean properties in Blackrock €2 million.

Nice place to live, no riff raff at those prices.

A few self hating Muldoons on here desperate for a pat on the head from their Dublin betters and maybe a ticket for the Autumn International series game v Fiji

I’d be interested in @flattythehurdler’s mate giving us a summary of his day where he got the train into Connolly instead of Heuston.

Only New York can match Dublin for drinking.

Oooooh oh la la la
Oh Oh la la

So it’s attractive if your whole life revolves around drinking?

It’s similar to East and West Berlin. We probably should put gates up across the bridges. Maybe allow some access but should be manned.
