Julian Cope - Autogeddon Blues
A smashing young band from Limerick. Give 'em a listen, Iâd like to think several posters here would dig them. I have a connection a member of the group, but completely aside from that I think theyâre really very good indeed. They sound a bit like Joy Division/The National/My Bloody Valentine/The War on Drugs.
Watched Goodfellas for the millionth time last week and canât stop playing this tune.

Keeping with the Goodfellas theme.
Pop doesnât get any better than this. Thank you Phil Spector you nutter.
More Spector genius.
Righteous Brothers - Youâve Lost that Lovinâ Feelinâ
One of the Brothers was annoyed that he only sang at the chorus. He asked Spector what should he do during the verses. Spector replied âgo straight to the fucking bank!â
Iâm always partial to a bit of Unchained Melody even if it has come to remind me of Robson Green.
Great stuff there Farmer.
For the week thatâs in it. Billy Bragg and Badly Drawn Boy - Walk away Renee
Almost 16 years ago since this was released. I remember thinking at the time what would Radioheadâs next music move be, would they play safe with the radio friendly success they had with The Bends or would they branch out their musical style into more alternative and riskier music. The answer was very much the latter, a decision from which they have never looked back.
I first heard Paranoid Android on Top 30 Hits, where they only played a snippet of the song and I immediately went to Dave Fanning to hear the full version. I was blown away. Radiohead, in my opinion, have certainly never come close to bettering it since, and in fact I doubt many other bands have either.
THE PANIC, THE VOMIT!!
Hard to believe its 16 years.
A completely different animal to The Bends and it showed a Bowie like bravery to go and try something different.
Iâm liking these guys, their stuff is on a few ads on tv at the moment, The Heavy:
Did I ever tell you by the way? I never did like your face.
The Smiths - Youâve Got Everything Now
I was never a huge fan of this band but the amount of times I leapt around the place in student bars and house parties to this song, particularly the bit between 1:45 and 3:25.
