Irish tour tickets on sale tomorrow. Playing in Leisureland in Galway on Saturday October 26th and the Olympia on Sunday 27th, as well as a couple of other shows. Thatâs a bank holiday weekend. Not sure which one Iâd prefer to go to to be honest. Both, probably. One of my all-time favourite bands and I canât believe the only time I saw them was when they almost ripped the roof off the Point Depot at the end of 2000. Meant to go and see them at the same venue at the end of 2011 but was struck down by a merciless flu. They bizarrely played my local last year unannounced.
Been listening a bit more to Paul McLoone lately since his move to a later slot, meaning it doesnât clash with Off the Ball. He played some smashing stuff tonight and hereâs three.

I was in the local at home one night. There were about 10 people in the place. My selection on the jukebox had just finished and a lad I went to school with headed for it. We all waited for his opener and the opening bars of Grapevine started up. Everyone in the bar attempted the Marvin Gaye âOooooohhhhhhâ opening, got in badly wrong but continued singing it anyway. Great stuff.
