The Smashing Tunes Thread (Part 1)

[QUOTE=“farmerinthecity, post: 1023315, member: 24”]Aegispolis - Aphex Twin

James was probably 15 or 16 when he came up with this.

And he was born in Limerick!

:clap: the Alpha and the Omega of ambient tunes.

@Fagan ODowd

You familiar with Dominik Eulberg?

He’s more techno than ambient/electronic but obviously a close similarity.

From 2:58 on in this tune is why I love music.

Interesting fact about the Aphex Twin is that he had a brother who was also called Richard D James who died before he was born. The grave on the Girl Boy EP is his brothers.

The best electronic band out there at the moment for me.

The Knife - Marble House

I find myself going back to this crowd, and this song, on a regular basis. Their first recorded song and arguably their best.

Pixies - Caribou

The greatest song ever written - The Cure - From The Edge Of The Deep Green Sea

First Aid Kit - Silver Lining

Anna Calvi, David Byrne - Strange Weather

Good song for a brutal two day hangover.

Mark Lanegan - Riding the Nightingale

I need a dollar?

That one too, excellently used in the sadly missed How To Make It In America.

He also sang the vocals in Avecii’s Wake Me Up hit last year

Fuck it but I love those two birds from First Aid Kit. There’s no doubt the blonde one is more beautiful but the brunette looks like she’d be more fun. And they’re sisters too…Mmmhh, tasty. I really liked their first album but haven’t listened to the new one yet, think they played in Dublin last week too. I’d love to perform cunnilingus on the blonde one, I imagine her vagina tastes of peaches and strawberries…
