Another older band I’ve only discover in the last year or two, the awkward sounding and offbeat singing is absolutely genius.

Wait til you hear Old World.

I’ve just listened to the full album twice.

Magnificent album.

Summer feeling might be my favourite, there’s some lyrics in it that hit you like a pinch in the gut.

That Modern Lovers album was produced by John Cale from the Velvet Underground,

He also produced the debut album by the Stooges and Patti Smith’s Horses - both brilliant albums also.

I love this song.

Jonathan Richman was a VU groupie. When the Sex Pistols started gigging in 1976 but hadn’t started writing any of their own songs, they had a repertoire of covers one of which was Roadrunner by the Modern Lovers.

Yurt

A lovely little ditty by Richman about his sorrow around the demise of his local corner store.

Supposedly Roadrunner started off as Richman trying to work out how to play Sister Ray.

@glasagusban - if you’re getting into the Velvets, White Light/White Heat is probably my favourite album of theirs, one of my favourite of all time, but it requires a lot of attention (and possibly anger and drugs).

What ones? Bottle of whiskey job?

Whatever you prefer. Does whiskey go sour after you’ve opened it for a bit?
