Ah lovely. The Hitchers finest moment…brilliant. So many great nights watching these lunatics live

The air begins to thicken. Inside the box Strachan has stricken
The gap unfilled -he makes the kill -One-Nil

What’s the story with those two bands WTB? I never knew there were issues between them.

Anyway here is some Belle and Sebastian

Great lyrics

Monday morning wake up knowing that youve got to go to school
Tell your mum what to expect, she said it’s right out of the blue
Do you want to work in Debenhams, because thats what they expect
Start in lingerie, and Doris is your supervisor

And the head said that you always were a queer one from the start
For careers you say you want to be remembered for your art
Your obsessions get you known throughout the school for being strange
Making life-size models of The Velvet Underground in clay

In the queue for lunch they take the piss, youve got no appetite
And the rumor is you never go with boys and you are tight
So they jab you with a fork, you drop the tray and go berserk
While your cleaning up the mess the teacher is looking up your skirt

Hey, youve been used
Are you calm? settle down
Write a song, Ill sing along
Soon you will know that you are sane
Youre on top of the world again

Monday morning wake up knowing that youve got to go to school
Tell your mum what to expect, she said it’s right out of the blue
Do you want to work in C&A, cause thats what they expect
Move to lingerie and take a feel off Joe the store man

Tell Veronica the secrets of the boy you never kissed
Shes got everything to gain cause shes a fat girl with a lisp
She sticks up for you when you get aggravation from the snobs
cause you cant afford a blazer, girl youre always wearing clogs

At the interval you lock yourself away inside a room
Head of English gets you, asks you, what the hell do you think youre doing?
Do you think youre better then the other kids? well get outside.
Youve got permission, but youve got to make the bastard think hes right

Hey, youve been used
Write a song, Ill sing along
Are you calm? settle down
Soon you will know that you are sane
Youre on top of the world again

Are you cool, and you know
Youre a star and youll go far
Think of me as a friend
Not just a boy whos playing guitar
Youre on top of the world again

There’s a great documentary calld Dig! you should watch that’s based on the two of them. It’s probably on google videos. The bands knew each other very well and the Dandy Warhols in particular had a lot of respect for the BJM’s stuff. Whereas the Dandys got their record deal and went onto bigger things Anton Newcombe one way or another wrecked every chance the BJM had at getting signed. It’s very entertaining whether you’d know much about the bands or not.

You see the BBC documentary on Eno farmer? They had some of his quotes and he comes out with some interesting stuff much of which I agree with and some of which I would dispute. His collaboration with Coldplay would put me off him a bit to be honest.

Not exactly a smashing tune but if anyone is interested to hear what Thrawneen music sounds like, have a listen here:

It’s been repeated tonight on BBC4 Larry - so Im recording it.

Yeah collaborating with Coldplay isn’t good but he is a legend. The album Another Green World would be in my top 10 of all time. He has a few more terrific albums as well. Worked with Bowie and the Talking Heads and produced some of their best stuff.

It is well worth a watch. Plays a video from one of his songs from 1992. Gave me a headache with all the light movements.
