He’s dead. :o

Just saw that he committed suicide. Shocking stuff.

RIP Mark Linkous.

He’s been dead all weekend. Very sad. He was the real deal in fairness, a unique gift for songwriting yet would think nothing of throwing 5 minutes of dissonant feedback into one of his lullaby’s. His albums shouldn’t really have worked but they alway did. His music was fairly raw and mixed the simple and quite beautiful with an often harder complex edge like he was constantly at odds with the sound of his own music which he probably was. Some of his stuff is the musical equivelant of taking a metal baseball bat and destroying the shit out of the self pitying mopey drivel which serves as the default style of contemprory songwriting especially in this country.
Saw them in London about four years ago when Polly Harvey guested. Struck me then as a very gentle soul.

I like this. Very Joy Division.

Wasn’t he in a wheelchair back at the time of vivadixiesubmarinetransmissionplot? He then appeared to be able to walk again which makes this all the more bizarre. I love that album - I have posted a few tunes from it up here. Saturday, Heart of Darkness and Hammering the Cramps (think he played all instruments on the this one himself while being in the wheelchair).

It’s very sad but something must have been bothering him the poor divil.

Think I posted this before in here. Great song from a very underrated band. They have another song called Cristine which is also excellent.

Yeah he had to tour Europe in a wheelchair after breaking a leg or something whilst bunged out on Heroin. Think he OD’d and his heart stopped or something like that. Your right about Vivadixie, cracker of an album. Saturday is one of my favourites, as perfect a song as you’ll ever hear. This is another favourite, originally a Daniel Johnson number(another headcase)

I find that when my head is wrecked about something I just stick this on really loud and it helps.
