Number 89 in the UK Top 100 on August 20th, 2000.

World Party - Here Comes The Future

Reef - Set The Record Straight
Peak position of Number 19 in the charts on August 12th, 2000.

Utterly useless and utterly true fact: Sky Sports used this song to play out their coverage of the 2000 AFL Grand final between Essendon and Melbourne, during which their studio analyst was Mark Little aka Joe Mangel from Neighbours, the rationale for the choice of song being that Essendon had “set the record straight” with an authoritative Grand final victory after making fools of themselves by losing the previous year’s preliminary final to Carlton by one point.

David Holmes - 69 Police
Peaked at UK number 53 on August 19th, 2000.
Received heavy radio and video airplay from Uaneen Fitzsimons on 2FM and No Disco on Network 2.

This is a good read:

In terms of singles being released from albums, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness comes close to the top of the list.

This one, Bullet with the Butterfly Wings and 1979 are among the best songs of the 90s.

Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight Tonight

An album that absolutely has it all. From the beauty of the opening title track, to the genius and melancholy of Tonight and 1979, the absolute rage of Zero and Bullet, then the delicacy of To Forgive and Arms of Sleep, and the pure mentalness of Come Out At Night.

Ah it’s fucking magnificent. An artist at his peak.

Siamese Dream was a hard one to follow, I was a bit disappointed with Mellon Collie

Stephen Malkmus had a pop at them in Range Life.

One of the most bizarre attacks against a band of high quality.

Corgan does seem to rub people up the wrong way though.
