A 63 from Higgins puts him in the driving seat. Selby is in but there are 3 difficult reds on the cushion to negotiate.

Amazing stuff, this. Given how John was written off before this final, one could have been forgiven for being under the impression that Mark Selby only had to turn up to win.

4-2 to John.

4-2 to the Bhoy of the Baize.

John cleared up in frame 6 with a beautiful 95 break.

Tournament snooker, indeed tournament sport, is about peaking at the right time.

It’s 16 years since John Higgins lost a World Championship match from the last four onwards.

He went 13 years from 2003 to 2016 without losing a match from the quarter-finals onwards.

Nobody is better at peaking when it matters.

Denise looking radiant

Selby misses frame ball in frame 7. John is in. This would be a dagger to the Jester’s heart were he to clear up.

A lady compared to Selbys miserbale other half.

Another great chance for John now in frame 8.

That was an amazing break. John pulled out some extraordinary shots to keep it together. Selby now needs a snooker.
